The News & Messenger obtained 368 county health-department reports of inspections of swimming pools and spas at Prince William County apartment complexes, hotels, private clubs, recreation centers, public parks and homeowner association pools in 2008. In that year, more than 15 percent of pools/spas inspected were shut down for various violations. In most cases, the pools reopened within a few days after the violations were corrected.
