Most 12-, 13-, and 14-years olds have probably played the video game "Rock Band."

But the members of The Fuzed, 14-year-old Connor Ginger of Gainesville, 13-year-olds Trevor Fichtner of Haymarket and Jake Rosenthal of Herndon and 12-year-old Cheska Zaide of Ashburn, actually are a rock band.

The group, which has been together for about three months, has had about 10 gigs, performing at places such as the Loudoun County and Montgomery County fairs, as well as other venues in the Northern Vir-ginia area.

"This is how they've spent their summer," said Trevor's mom, Kathy Fichtner. "They just love it. And they're really quite good. People are surprised."

The group turned a few heads recently when they took the stage on Atlas Walk Way, in Gaines-ville's Virginia Gateway shopping center.

In an hour long set, The Fuzed, with vocals by Cheska, Trevor on lead guitar, Connor on bass guitar and Jake on drums, belted out several of their favorite classic rock songs.

More than a few people sipping lattes at Starbucks or waiting for a table at Uno's Chicago Grill seemed surprised when they saw the young band singing songs like "Sweet Child of Mine" and "Crazy Train."

The Fuzed's concert on Atlas Walk Way is one of several the Classic Axe Guitar Gallery is sponsor-ing at the shopping center in August.

During the concert, Classic Axe owner Russ Craig was busy adjusting the soundboard and speakers, keep-ing the concert running smoothly.

"They're pretty good, huh?" he said with a smile, as the band performed.

Trevor, who plays lead guitar in the band, has taken lessons at Classic Axe Guitar Gallery for about a year, Craig said.

The store is sponsoring a series of concerts on Atlas Walk Way every Friday and Saturday night in August to showcase the talents of its students and teachers.

This Friday, Alex Williams, a Classic Axe student, and drum teacher Aaron Grimm playing along with him will perform. Saturday, guitar teacher Matthew Mills, who has been playing Neoclassical rock for 10 years, is taking the stage.

On Aug. 28, Classic Axe instructor Jimmy Cross will play the banjo.

For members of the Fuzed, who have been playing together since May, the concert was another chance to play before an audience.

"It's a chance to play somewhere besides in the basement," said Connor.
