Ya Heard: Taunts, murder and VH1 show returns

»  Comments | Post a Comment

"Ideas pull the trigger, but instinct loads the gun." -Don Marquis

While at a listening party for his forthcoming, R. Kelly responded to taunts directed at him from fellow R&B artist Trey Songz. The Virginia-bred Songz has been quite busy this summer ridiculing Kelly. Songz even released an all out diss record speaking on his displeasure with the Pied Piper.

"When I heard Jay-Z's 'Death of Auto Tune' my first thought was 'When will R. Kelly stop using it?' The King of R&B with an auto tune filled mixtape (not to mention an auto tuned "Double Up" album) disappoints me," stated Songz. "If throwing rocks at the throne wakes up the King, consider them thrown. I just want R. Kelly back."

Of the extra attention from Trey Songz, Kelly stated, "When you're a king ... I don't get into the challenges anymore. What is an elephant gonna do when an ant or a fly lands on them? Those guys got some growing up to do. That's something I would have answered 20 years ago."

Yeah Kells, tell these young whippa snappers to bow down. I don't care what context this is used in, but always respect those who came before you. How is the 24-year-young Trey Songz going to dare criticize the genius of an R. Kelly, who has been putting out hits for 20-plus years? Kelly is an R&B legend whose legacy will be remembered in the same vein as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross. I like Trey Songz and think he has potential to do great things, but the one thing that will mess up any great thing is loose lips. Someone close to Mr. Songz needs to inform him to hush up and focus on his legacy.

Trouble on Miami highway

Sam Ferguson, 47, was killed on a Miami highway last week and some people are beginning to suspect Miami-based rapper Rick Ross as being involved in the shooting.

Ferguson, the president of Don Diva magazine, was gunned down while driving on the Florida turnpike in the middle of the day last Friday.

Ferguson was one of the first individuals to shed light on Ross' past career as a Florida corrections officer. Ross was reportedly very upset with Ferguson's revelations and even went as far as challenging Ferguson to a fistfight. While some believe that Ferguson was targeted either by Ross or someone else, there is no evidence to support those accusations. As of press time, police are still investigating the possibility of road rage playing a part in the altercation.

Rick Ross' career has been suffering a backlash ever since he was exposed as a corrections officer in his prior profession. What made the story so devastating to the rapper was the fact that he initially tried to deny and hide his law enforcement past.

Whether or not the feud between Ross and Ferguson led to the shooting is still pending. In the meantime, condolences are in order to Ferguson's entire family.

'Behind the Music' is back with a bang!

After years of being MIA, VH1 is finally bringing back their popular 'Behind the Music' television series. The show is scheduled to kick off Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. and will feature Lil' Wayne. 50 Cent's career will also be profiled in the series on Oct. 13.

"Behind the Music" aired regularly from 1997 to 2002 and profiled the careers of many artists including the Notorious B.I.G., Run DMC, New Edition and many others.

I would really like for the show to focus on a smaller act at least once; I wouldn't mind getting the scoop on say…Kriss Kross at some point in time. Just a thought…'til next week, Peace!!!
