» The annual Silverdocs documentary film festival has only five days to go.
Among the final weekend’s highlights is the world premiere of “The Nine Lives of Marion Barry,” a cinematic examination of the life and career of Washington, D.C.’s, controversial former mayor and current city councilman.
The film will be shown at the American Film Institute’s Silver Theater, home base for the festival, on June 19.

» The National Theatre in downtown Washington resumes its annual Summer Cinema Series with free screenings of classic films Monday evenings in theatre’s Helen Hayes Gallery. The focus of this year’s series is the inimitable Elizabeth Taylor.
“Who’s Afraid of Elizabeth Taylor?” begins on Monday, June 22 with “Cat On a Hot Tin Roof.” Other films include “Butterfield 8” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
Free screenings take place at 6:30 p.m., but you must have a ticket. Tickets are given out at the National’s box office, starting at 6 p.m. each Monday of a screening. Get in line for a ticket early, as seating is limited and it’s one ticket per person.

ON STAGE
Studio Theatre in the District has extended both its current offerings.
» August Wilson’s “Radio Golf,” part of his 10-play cycle of plays examining black life in the United States during the 20th Century, will now run through July 5.
» Tom Stoppard’s “Rock ’N’ Roll” receives one final extension to June 28.
» Studio has also opened a limited run of author Joan Didion’s one-woman memoir work, “The Year of Magical Thinking.” Helen Hedman portrays Didion in the play, which looks at a year in her life. During that year, Didion’s husband, author John Gregory Dunne, died suddenly while the two of them were struggling with their daughter’s devastating illness. “Magical Thinking” runs through July 5.
» Stacy Keach treads the Washington boards again, several months after his acclaimed performance in “Frost/Nixon” in the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of “King Lear.” Perhaps the most affecting of the Bard’s tragedies, Lear runs on the STC’s Harmon Hall stage through July 19.
» Olney Theatre Center in Olney, Md., extends its acclaimed revival of “The Glass Menagerie” to July 5.
» Theater J, based at the D.C. Jewish Community Center at 1529 16th Street, N.W., presents “The Seagull on 16th Street.” This new adaptation of Chekov’s tale of love and loss, written by Theater J’s artistic director Ari Roth, has a “pay what you can” preview on June 18 at 7:30 pm. It runs through July 19.
» Closing this weekend are the comedy “A Sleeping Country,” at Round House Theatre’s Bethesda stage and the Folger Theatre’s production of Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia.” Both plays are scheduled to end June 21.
