“Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none.” — William Shakespeare
Rihanna appeared on ABC’s “20/20” last weekend and threw more flames on the fire that is burning Chris Brown’s career to ashes. A brutally honest and mature Rihanna sat down with Diane Sawyer and described the ordeal that made national headlines last winter when her then-boyfriend Chris Brown assaulted her. Rihanna looked to be a person whom has learned and grown from the horrific experience and not like a scorned woman trying to even the score. Her aura and message for women in similar situations made even a skeptic such as myself take everything she stated at face value.
At one point in the interview Rihanna told Sawyer, “The thing that men don’t realize, when they hit a woman, it’s... the face, the broken arm, the black eye, it’s going to heal. That’s not ... the problem. It’s the scar inside,” she said. “You flashback. You ... you remember it all the time. It comes back to you whether you like it or not. And it’s painful. So I don’t think he understood that. They never do.”
Unfortunately for Brown, he has yet to show his former fans that he has learned from this situation. He has repeatedly released statements, but you just don’t feel that honesty when he speaks. A sentiment that Rihanna also felt when she told Sawyer, “What I want is for him to accept this as a man would and accept the responsibility. And not find a way to feel sorry for himself.”
Hopefully they, as well as we, can now move on from this unfortunate situation and learn from the lesson that has been taught.
J. Lo trying to keep video on the D-Lo
It seems that Mrs. Marc Antony aka Jennifer Lopez has found herself in a sticky situation involving her ex-husband and a steamy sex tape involving the two. Lopez’ ex, Ojani Noa, has apparently been shopping the video footage around in search of the highest bidder. Lopez and her attorney have now filed a $10 million lawsuit against Noa for violating a 2004 confidentiality agreement between the two former lovers.
According to reports, the video footage includes some rather racy scenes as well as an argument between Lopez and her mother. How the argument with her mother plays into a sex tape is beyond me, but the video was allegedly recorded during the former couple’s honeymoon following their 1997 marriage.
This behavior of recording our most intimate moments is a craze that continues to grow and run parallel to our current boom in technological advancements that has spanned the last 30 years. Many have taken the risk of making such videos with their partners and many have been left to wonder and worry when such videos outlast those ever-so-fragile emotions. Granted, a sex tape scandal involving a celebrity is much more interesting than a scandal involving everyday folk. Yet I remind you that any ammunition in the hands of someone with something to gain from you will rob your peace of mind.
In my opinion, the only people that should be making any type of racy recordings are couples that have been married for 30 or more years, lol. By that point in marriage, you’re pretty much assured that your relationship is rock solid. Heck, an even if divorce does enter the equation, no one is going to be interested in seeing those vintage images anyways. So to Mr. and Mrs. Baby Boomer, go get the camera…you deserve it!
