Prince William Little Theatre will present Steve Martin's "The Underpants" for seven performances, beginning Friday.

Using Carl Sternheim's original 1910 comedy, actor, comedian and playwright Martin has invigo-rated this hilarious farce.

In "The Underpants," Theo Maske, a chauvinistic German civil servant, berates his wife, Louise, for allowing her underpants to fall during a parade for the king.

While Theo fears a public scandal that could financially and socially ruin them both, men begin to arrive at the Maske household to rent a room and, unbeknownst to the aloof government clerk, seek to seduce his little housewife.

As scandal erupts into the absurd through Martin's masterful wordplay and banter, the characters reflect on our fascination with fame, gender and sex, making the play as relevant today as Stern-heim's play was 100 years ago.

Performance dates are Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23 and Jan. 29 and 30 at 8 p.m., and Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at Jennie Dean Elementary School, 9601 Prince William St., Manassas. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 for student/senior/military; $6 ages 6-12. For more information call 703-330-7796.
