Red Pinkerton: The end of the world

1984… Y2K… Harold Camping’s May and October Doomsday predictions. Now… there’s the Mayan calendar… all forecasting the end of the world as we know it.

But the end of the world didn’t happen in ’84… or Y2K. Camping was wrong as well… and according to 11-year-old Nathan Archibald… the Mayans have also miscalculated the end of the world. According to Nate… Doomsday is tomorrow… January 3rd.

The Boy Prognosticator was playing last night with his new Nerf machine gun he received for Christmas. Suddenly his mother noticed the house had gone quiet. She went to look for Nate to see what was the matter.

She found her son cross-legged on the floor just outside his bedroom… sitting silently… head down. When she asked her son if something was bothering him… he looked up at her with a tear welling in his eye and said… “We have to go back to school the day after tomorrow.”

Mrs. Archibald said she sort of chuckled and said to her son… “Well... it’s not the end of the world Nate.”

That’s when Nate made his bold prediction by running into his room and shouting…

“Yes it is!!!”... before slamming the door.
