Police report catching two in the act
Juan Alvarez Craig Arundale
While many people were warm inside their homes spending the Christmas holiday with their families, police said at least two men were caught in the act while trying to take advantage of what is thought to be a quiet holiday.
• Police arrested a Woodbridge man they said was trying break into a plant nursery on U.S. 1 in Wood-bridge.
Police were called to investigate a burglar alarm sounding at Meadows Farms Nursery at 14135 Jefferson Davis Highway around 4 a.m.
When he arrived, Master Police Officer S.C. Mercer saw a man trying to get into the business, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
Mercer waited for more officers to show up and then took the man into custody, Hernandez said.
Juan Alvarez Salas, 18, of 13950 Jefferson Davis Highway, Apt. 33 in Woodbridge was charged with statutory burglary and resisting arrest.
He never made it into the business,
Hernandez said.
He was held without bond and will appear in court on Feb. 5.
• Prince William police said they were also able to catch someone else committing a crime.
Officer K.M. Strobel was patrolling in the area of Minnieville and Telegraph roads in Lake Ridge when he saw a man painting graffiti on a retaining wall alongside the road, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
When Strobel tried to confront the man, the spray painter ran. The officer chased him for a short distance before arresting him, Hernandez said.
Craig Douglas Arundale, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with destruction of both public and private property and obstruction of justice.
When Strobel put Arundale in his police car, the man kicked a rear passenger door and damaged the frame, Hernan-dez said.
He was held on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court on Jan. 19.

How about a photo of the dumb employers that hire some of these dumb illegal criminals. That would be funnier. LOL Chris Cummings
“The Potomac News should post photos of 2008’s most dumbest criminals.“
My vote would be for the mother-daughter-boyfriend team that tried to kill dad with a baseball bat, which dad proceeded to remove from the boyfriend and whup up on him until the police arrived.
The Potomac News should post photos of 2008’s most dumbest criminals.
Just look at the track marks on Juan’s face. Looks like the needle kept missing. How high was he when they caught him? What a pair of morons. LOL Chris Cummings
Officer Strobel, could you please inform us what in the world that blemish is on Mr Arundale’s face? It appears to be the mark of yet another loser costing P.W.C. tax payers for graffiti removal.
I hope the assigned prosecuter in this case recommends at the minimum, 100 hours community service cleaning or painting (at his expense) over existing graffiti in the most notable places w/in the county.
Good police work in catching both of these morons.
“What a winner, his parents must be so proud.“
How about posting a picture of the parents right along side the kid’s photo under the title of “I Failed”.
jajajaja, how cool is this, even robbers are going “GREEN”(you know trying to rob the farm), lol. If would be great to see the pictures of all the people caught committing crimers.
I think it’s cool that you put the pics of these guys up.I think if more pics of criminals were shown, criminials might think twice. They do things mostly in the dark, don’t want their faces plastered in paper to show friends and family they’re losers.ha Good for you Potomac News.
19 years old and he’s out spraying graffiti? What a winner, his parents must be so proud. From the looks of this idiot, I bet we see him again although I hope I’m wrong. And just what is that dot thing on his forehead?
Great job, officers, in catching both of these morons in the act!
