More than 100 cars in several Manassas area neighborhoods were painted with racial slurs and other hate messages early Thursday morning, Prince William County police said.
Police believe that four people, using a washable marker, wrote racial, religious, ethnic and sexual orientation slurs on cars in the areas of Wedgwood Drive, Trudle Place, Quail Run Lane and Remington Road in Manassas around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Prince William County police spokeswoman 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn said Friday.
The victims were “completely random,” Chinn said.
In a statement, Prince William County police chief Charlie Deane said the county police take all hate crimes seriously.
“Even though the damage was minimal, we treat these incidents very seriously, and they are investigated with a high priority due to the fear and anxiety they cause a community,” Deane said in the statement.
Police arrested three Manassas area residents for the incidents and have a warrant for a fourth.
Nathan Anthony McNeel, 21, of 8994 Cannon Ridge Drive, Caitlin Marie Pilkington, 18, of 7017 Trappers Court, and Edward Raul Madrid, 20, of no fixed address were all arrested and charged with seven counts of destruction of property and one count of unlawful entry with intent to commit a hate crime.
Police are still searching for Adrian Mark Owens, 18, of 8465 Ivy Glen Court, who faces the same charges.
McNeel and Pilkington were released pending a court date on Dec. 10. Madrid is being held without bond until the Dec. 10 court date.

lulz the mugshot doesn’t do her justice.. take my word for it.
that Caitlin girl, might be the ugliest thing i have ever seen. i hope she gets locked up for a while.
Cat,
If you really are the person charged, why would you make things difficult for your attorney by basically admitting you were involved? You better hope the ACA doesn’t take a look at this because if so it’ll probably be used against you.
How was the South big for McCain Phdee? He lost Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina. You must be a closet racist or something. Couldn’t find much more than the normal amount of hate crimes, incidentally from nationwide tallies its showing that more of the crimes were directed towards McCain supporters and McCain in general, even though the man is clearly not a racist unlike others in the Republican or Democrat parties, Lott, Byrd, Thurmond, Clinton, find examples on Youtube, under Hillary Clinton racist, as for Byrd he is an ex dragon of the KKK and manages to say something racist every decade. Historically you will find more examples of racist Democrat politicians even up to this day. LOL Chris Cummings
I’m the girl who got charged. Just letting everyone know, none of us are racist and most of us did not write the racial things, we are in trouble just for writing anything at all. No drugs were involved like a lot of articles are reporting. We werent intending to spread hate or anything. I regret being around them when it happened. Mistake. Oops.
And whoever BrickLove is, no one I know pressured me not to drop out, I’m starting college in the spring, and I definatly don’t support or am ‘all about’ anarchy. I don’t even talk to anyone I hung out with in high school anymore and BTW they’re all off to college too. So your pretty full of it.
I knew the girl during high school. Getting out of her group of friends was the best thing that’s happened to me. I’m in college, while she dropped out (I pressured her NOT to). Unfortunately, her personality (she was all about anarchy, etc), and her group of friends predisposed herself to this crime. Sad, but she had it coming
The internet news is full of hate incidents against Obama since the election. Let’s not forget Manassas is a dying red Southern town, and the South was big for McCain. Racism and hate simply is not dead around here. Perhaps drugs and booze can bring out the worst in someone, but the fact is the “hate” is there. Just bottled up inside.
Alice, actually these suspects were “charged” when they were arrested, thus being charged w/ seven counts of destruction of property and one count of unlawful entry with intent to commit a hate crime.
As far as printing their addresses, it’s public info so any newspaper has a right to print such. If it were my call, I wouldn’t print address of those charged b/c there is always a possibility they COULD be found innocent once they have their day in court.
Anything about Obama or McCain with these messages? ![]()
I don’t believe it’s safe or necessary to post the adresses of the offenders. They’re basically just kids and this endangers them and their familys. Also they have not been ‘charged’ with anything. As of now they have only been accused of these things. Posting the adresses of offenders is not a safe idea so the online content controller should please consider just leaving the names and removing the unessacary information that can only hurt them.
I know these kids. None of them are racist or hateful, they just made a stupid decision.
