How would a democratic candidate for the 11th Congressional District tackle climate change and rising energy costs?

Find out Wednesday night at a forum hosted by three environmental groups that are pressing candidates to address national security, economic and environmental policies.

The forum, “Energy and Climate Change: Solutions From The 11th Congressional District To Capitol Hill” begins at 7 p.m. at Oakton High School, 2900 Sutton Road in Vienna.

The Clean Water Fund, the Coalition for Smarter Growth and the Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund are hosting the forum, led by Virginia Tech professor Stephen Schoenholtz.

“Energy issues, especially the rising cost of oil and climate change, are among the most significant environmental, economic and nation security issues that we face,” said Stewart Schwartz, executive director of the Coalition for Smarter Growth. “So we thought it was important to call attention to these issues, along with the candidates in the 11th district who are lending their support in this.”

He said Schoenholtz will give forum attendees an update on climate change science, including its impact on Virginia.

“It’s going to be important that the next congress address these issues effectively,” he said.

Let the fearmongering begin, if it isn’t one party its the other. Chris Cummings
