Manassas Chorale holds open rehearsals

The Manassas Community Chorale will hold open rehearsals today and Oct. 14 for new members in all sections. Interested sopranos, altos, tenors and basses should plan to attend Tuesday's rehearsal at 7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Manassas Baptist Church. Membership in this award-winning group, which will sing at Carnegie Hall in June 2009, is open to high school students and adults of all ages.

Flu, pneumonia shots offered in Woodbridge

Victoria Park, 16820 Flotilla Way, Woodbridge, will offer flu shots and pneumonia shots Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Flu shots are free for seniors on Medicare and $30 for anyone else; pneumonia shots for $45 for non-Medicare participants.

Remembrance Ceremony at Potomac Hospital

In honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, Potomac Hospital will hold a Remembrance Ceremony Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Hylton Education Center at Potomac Hospital.

Join the group for speakers, poetry read by parents, music, commemoration and refreshments. All are welcome, including children. Anyone who has experienced an infant or pregnancy loss, regardless of when or how the loss occurred, is invited to attend.

Bridal Fair, chili contest canceled at Fort Belvoir

The following events scheduled to take place at Fort Belvoir this week have been canceled:

ACTS to mark 40th year with Volksmarch

Action in Community Through Service will begin celebrating its 40th anniversary Saturday with a Volksmarch, a family event at Locust Shade Park.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include music, food, vendors, a 5K path and a shorter, paved route for small children and those in strollers or wheelchairs.

Tickets are $10 for individuals or $20 for families. Proceeds from this event and others planned in upcoming months will benefit ACTS' programs, such as Emergency Assistance, Transitional Living, Turning Points, Helpline and the Child Care Center. The events will also raise awareness for the agency and the needs it meets in the commu-nity.
