A man was killed Sunday in a watercraft accident near Belmont Bay in Woodbridge, fire officials said.

It happened after 3 p.m. off the shore of the waterfront community between the Occoquan and Potomac Rivers.

A man was killed and another rider on the personal watercraft was injured as they rode the wake of a boat, fire officials said.

The condition of the second person was unknown late Sunday.

No details on the accident were released. An official with Maryland Natural Resources Police, which handles incidents in the Potomac River along the Virginia shore, would not comment.
