Sacred Heart Catholic Church celebrates 25 years as a parish today. There will be a Mass celebrated by Bishop Loverde at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Bazan and past pastors Rev. Frank Reddy and Rev. Thomas Lehning. A cocktail reception, “An Evening under the Stars” will follow. Tickets of $10 per person will be available at the door. Sacred Heart Catholic church is at 12975 Purcell Road, Manassas.

Scholarship awards

The Dale City Civic Association in partnership with Commerce Bank has awarded two scholarships of $500 each to Dale City residents David Ruffner of Gar-Field Senior High School and Lentie Ward of Hylton Senior High School.

These awards were based on essays written by graduating seniors. This year’s topic was “My Contributions to the Dale City Community.”

The Dale City Civic Association meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Birchdale Center on Dale Boulevard. Call 703-670-6907 for information.

Bull Run Regional Library

If creating tangible memories of a trip is important to you, consider attending the June meeting of Bull Run Library’s Brown Bag Travel Club. Patty Gulledge will discuss how she creates a journal of her travels and includes pictures taken by her husband. Bring your lunch and meet fellow travelers. This free program takes place June 25 at 12:30 p.m. To reserve your place, call 703-792-4530, or 703-792-4524. Chinn Park Regional Library

-  It will be hot tunes for cool kids when Mr. Skip comes to the library on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and delights his audiences with tons of interactive singing, dancing, storytelling, and lots of humor. Free tokens for this Summer Quest event for children ages two and up and their caregivers will be given out one-half hour before the program begins. No more than five tokens per adult and each person who enters the community room must have a token.

- Meet the Prince William County Crime Scene Investigations Unit on Wednesday at 2 p.m. and talk to the investigators about their experiences. See the high-tech tools used to collect incriminating evidence that will be used in criminal prosecutions. This free, drop-in program for middle and high school students is on a first-come, first-served basis beginning one half-hour before the program begins.

Remember to sign up infants through fifth-graders for Summer Quest, the Prince William Public Library System’s summer reading program, to receive the “coupon of the week” and reading incentives all summer long.
