The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will consider several special use permits at their Tuesday evening meeting, including one that would allow a bunny rescue to operate out of house in the Gainesville area.

County staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval of a special use permit for Bunny Lu Adoptions, a rabbit rescue and adoption service proposed to operate out of a house on Padgett Drive in the Gainesville District.

According to a county staff report, several neighbors spoke both for and against the proposal at a Planning Commission public hearing in June.

Some neighbors are concerned that the proposal would bring more traffic and commercial activity to the neighborhood, according to the report.

But others spoke in favor of proposal, saying that the property owner takes good care of her property and that the rabbit rescue is a needed service in the area.

The rescue would house up to 60 rabbits at a time, according to the staff report.

The supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposal before voting on it during their 7:30 p.m. meeting.

Also during the evening meeting, the supervisors will consider a proposal to add two classroom trailers to Holy Family Academy, a private Catholic School near Moore Drive in the Brentsville District.

County staff and the planning commission are recommending approval of the proposal, which would allow for the temporary use of the trailers while the school’s permanent expansion is completed.

During their 2 p.m. meeting, the supervisors will hear a presentation on the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation Phase II campaign, “Connecting the Circle of Honor.”

They will also consider several budget amendments and a proposed change in polling places in Haymarket.
