Gas leak secured at Catholic school

Fire and rescue workers have temporarily fixed the gas leak that closed Linton Hall School earlier today and are working on a permanent fix, said Randy Earl, spokesman for the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

Late this morning a truck backed into a 500-gallon liquid propane tank outside the private Catholic school and vapors made their way inside, forcing the school to evacuate.

Fire and rescue workers were called around 11:20 a.m. and, are in the process of fully securing the leak, Earl said.

A planning group was brought in to determine whether to evacuate the half-mile radius surrounding the school, but Earl said that measure was not necessary.

Linton Hall School is on the grounds of the St. Benedictine Monastery and is a day school with an enrollment of about 200 pupils in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades.
