Like hundreds of other restaurants in the area, Ruby Tuesday in Gainesville is gearing up for large crowds during the presidential inauguration.

According to manager Jason Simmons, the restaurant has extended its hours and will bring in additional staff as needed.

"I have extended the hours we are open from 10 a.m. to midnight on Jan. 18, 19 and 20 in anticipation of larger-than-normal crowds for the inauguration celebrations," he said.

He expects many customers to come from packed hotels, such as the nearby Hampton Inn or campgrounds.

Helping to draw customers to the restaurant is the fact that it is one of 1,115 worldwide and is familiar with travelers.

Simmons said the restaurant is going all out to greet the visitors coming into the area with a gracious hospitality while at the same time giving local customers "the best menu in casual dining to the gracious smiles that greet everyone at our door. We want to make everyone their favorite dining spot."

Simmons has 20 years in the food industry to draw experience on how to run a successful restaurant.

He started with Ruby Tuesday three years ago as a cook in the kitchen when it opened and has progressed up to manager, overseeing a staff of 45 employees. The facility has a seating capacity of 229.

For those who want carryout service, the restaurant will take a food order and then bring it out to the customer's car. The eatery is located at 7505 Iron Bar Lane in the Gateway Shopping Center.

Simmons believes in getting involved in the community, frequently donating to SERVE, sports clubs and teacher organizations at Brentsville District High School. The company as a whole donates to charities, such as 10 percent of the price on each dozen cookies sold goes to Feeding America. Simmons himself often volunteers to work in the kitchens of homeless shelters.

Simmons said he is prepared food-wise for larger-than-normal crowds, saying "from our classic burgers, to fork-tender ribs to steak and crab cakes we will be well-stocked."

For those needing a little fresher-up, there are daily drink special such as draft of the day, signature sangria and cocktail of the day.

Simmons knows the value of treating visitors well since he was worked in such tourist areas as Austin, Las Vegas, Seattle and the Redwood Forest. A resident of Bristow, when not at the restaurant he likes to play the guitar, bike, read and work out.

Should the turnout not be as large as expected, Simmons said he won't be disappointed.

He said, "We will just have more time to spend with those who do come in."

Ruby Tuesdays has the worst service in the county for site down restaurants…I hope they all go out of business…
