Haymarket woman gets the right ticket

Susan Webb of Haymarket didn't expect a work errand to be worth $1 million—but it certainly paid off.

After running the errand, she decided to get a soda before returning to the office. She recently heard that her friend won a top prize in Cash 5, so she decided to take a chance of her own.

"I went in the car to scratch the ticket and kept recalculating the numbers when I saw the million-dollar prize," she later told Virginia Lottery officials.

She then called her husband to tell him the news.

"I couldn't get her to stop screaming," David Webb said. "We were both very excited."

She bought the ticket at a 7-Eleven at 7489 Limestone Drive in Gainesville.

Webb is the third player to claim the top prize of $1 million over 25 years in the Maximum Millions game. She chose to take the cash option of $564,000 before taxes.

The Webbs own a business and plan to build a new home with their winnings, she said.
