Calling all marching bands, politicians and Boy Scouts.

The Haymarket Day 2009 parade needs participants.

Plans for Haymarket Day 2009 are taking shape and town officials need help from area residents and businesses to make the day happen.

This year's Haymarket Day is scheduled for Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual event takes place in the town of Haymarket and includes a parade, children's activities, arts and crafts vendors and performances from area groups.

The theme for this year's Haymarket Day is "Haymarket Keeps Moving" and the event will include a performance by the United States Navy Band, the Commodores.

The event is still a few months away but town officials are already soliciting applications from parade participants, arts and craft vendors, commercial vendors, non-profit vendors and event sponsors.

The deadline for parade participants and vendors to apply to participate in this year's event is Aug. 21.

Applications for parade participants and vendors can be found on http://www.townofhaymarket.org.

Parade applications can be submitted by e-mail through the Web site or by mail at Haymarket Day Parade 2009, P.O. Box 1230, Haymarket, VA 20168 or by fax at 703-753-2800.

Haymarket Day is actually September 19th, not the 18th.
