LETTER: Americans must show solidarity

» 98 Comments | Post a Comment

Why aren’t Americans wearing green bands on their arms or in any other way showing support to the demonstrators who risk their lives on the streets in Tehran?

Why isn’t America celebrating the first steps of democracy and freedom in Iraq, Afghanistan and now in Iran?

Wasn’t the hope of bringing the wind of change one of the ideas why America’s soldiers are fighting in that region?

America has always been a symbol for democracy and freedom to the whole world, but there is hardly any sign of emotions when dictators fall and countries taste freedom and hold free elections for the
first time in their history.

I appeal to the News & Messenger to announce a week for showing our support to those who are being beaten and shot in the name of freedom on the streets in Tehran!

“Who are those Value Voters?!?“

Much as a portion of the minority voters are asking today ....

smile

scorps, there will always be 51% that are happy and 49% who are not - it is the system we live under, for better or worse.

We go back perhaps to Reagan to find a president that didn’t polarize the nation - and I’m sure there will opinions offer up on that statement!

“Let’s hope this is not another South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford situation”

Let’s hope it’s not Peter Farrell situation either.
Or John Edwards. Or Mark Spitzer…

You just can’t leave Palin alone, can you, you liberal pricks?

I really doubt it will happen but you do deserve Sarah Palin to become the next president.

Personally I would love to see your jaws drop, blinking and asking once again lost in in your own stupidity:

“Who are those Value Voters?!?“

“What I said was that it was the height of hypocrisy to read about “sacrifice” from his teleprompter and then ..“

Falling in line just below GWB’s height of hypocrisy when he read from the teleprompter that he would give up playing golf in order to support our troops.

Chicken Little, what more do you have from your “The Sky Is Falling” diary?

Well the Palin commentary is apparently no longer relevant as she is clearly incapable of governing or fulfilling her oath and as such has announced her resignation.  Now to fade off into the tundra.  Thank God.

“Can you tell me why you did not apologize for calling me a liar when I submitted the proof you were looking for?“

Because your submitted no such proof, Captain Mute.

Taking a $60 per diem to cover her travel expenses (at a much reduced cost to the taxpayers) is not…as you lied…“charging the taxpayers to sleep in her own bed”.

In fact, it’s not even close.  So why would I apologize for calling you a liar when you’re still lying?

“former governor Palin to travel on the taxpayer’s nickel but not the President of the United States?“

But thanks for continuing to lie to prove my point that you’re…well…a liar.

I never stated that he couldn’t travel on the taxpayers dime.  What I said was that it was the height of hypocrisy to read about “sacrifice” from his teleprompter and then spend roughly $200,000 dollars of the money of the people he just told to “sacrifice” to go on a date.

“A simple “Ray, I’m sorry I called you a liar.  I should of checked the facts before doing so” would have been much easier to type”

I did check the facts, Senor Mute.  I posted them for you, since you’re not capable of reading past an irresponsibily written headline.

And those facts included the tremendous lengths Gov. went to in order to save the taxpayers money.

A simple “I’m sorry, pwanon, for being so dumb that I get led astray by one sentence of poor journalism, and for getting caught lying again.“

But don’t worry.  I’m not a nancy like yourself, and I don’t need an apology.

As we celebrate our nation’s birthday today, let us all take time to reflect on what a wonderful country it is that we live in.

A country enhanced by its warts, politics and disagreements and not weakened by the public display.

A country strengthened by opinion and opposing points of view - where debate is encouraged on any subject.

A country where we have an all-volunteer military force, where our men and women serve because of their love for our country rather than filling a mandated 24 month term.

A country that gives us a peaceful - if spirited - transfer of leadership every eight years if the bum is doing a decent job.  Or the ability to toss ‘em out on their can after four years if they’re not.

A county that allows each and every one of us to practice our faith in the manner of which we choose - or not at all.

And finally, a country that others are willing to risk everything to enter and be a part of.

Happy Birthday America.  And a happy 4th to all those who care enough to take the time to post their thoughts on these pages.

“And…once again..in the face of a factual rebutall…you look elsewhere.“

<Note:  “Rebutall” is actually spelled “rebuttal” - misspellings by pwanon are often a sign of stress and rising blood pressure.>

Deflect, deflect, deflect.

pwanon, when faced with a question you can’t answer or one that will make you pop your own balloon, you latch on to something meaningless and begin your post anew.

Can you tell me why you did not apologize for calling me a liar when I submitted the proof you were looking for?

Can you tell me why it is okay for (soon-to-be) former governor Palin to travel on the taxpayer’s nickel but not the President of the United States?

Can you tell me why it is okay for then president GWB to travel back and forth to Crawford on unlimited vacation but now apparently you hold different standard for the current president?

The best you can come up with is a hastily selected word selection to criticize?

A simple “Ray, I’m sorry I called you a liar.  I should of checked the facts before doing so” would have been much easier to type.

Apology accepted by the way.

“And…but the way…the word you’re looking or is “moot”...note “mute”.“

Wow! Other than the typos (should be “by” not “but,“ missed the “f” in “or”, and should be “not” not “note”) I’m impressed that Pwanon actually found a dictionary and learned how to use it.  Perhaps Conservatives can learn new things?

“I guess this discussion is now a mute point.“

And…once again..in the face of a factual rebutall…you look elsewhere.

Shocking.  Dishonest to the core.  The Ray Williams Way.

And…but the way…the word you’re looking or is “moot”...note “mute”.

There is a difference between a typo…and ingnorance…and that difference shines every time you post…dummy.

“Let’s hope this is not another South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford situation.“

Looks like she is in fact under Federal Investigation for diverting building materials, purchased for the $12.5Mil sports complex project she pushed through as mayor of Wasilla, for her new home.  The reports are as yet unconfirmed, but indictments are expected very soon.

What a shame.  With the way things are going, Obama may run for 2010 re-election unopposed by any Republican (at least, unopposed by Republican not actually in jail).
