LETTER: Bob doesn’t go along to get along

» 10 Comments | Post a Comment

In response to the recent letter from a supporter of Bob Marshall’s opponent, the reason Bob is not currently a committee chairman is because he is not a “go along to get along” politician. Rather, he is a
true public servant.

When the General Assembly passed a law setting up unelected regional bodies to raise taxes, Bob Marshall sued the governor (Democrat), Attorney General (Republican), the Speaker of the House
(Republican) and 114 Assembly members. He won in the Virginia Supreme Court 7-0 in 2008.

Bob did not please his colleagues by showing they voted for illegal taxes, but he did please citizens who know that we fought a revolution over “taxation without representation.”

Bob Marshall risked removal from the Republican caucus this year because he made a rare parliamentary move to bring his Autism Insurance bill to the House floor rather than let it die in a sub-
committee because no member would make a motion to pass or kill his bill. (This would add $1.60-$1.90 a month to policies.) His motion to discharge failed, but Bob stood up for these families.

Previously Bob Marshall chaired the claims committee, a three-year stem cell study, and a study committee for conflict of interest, which resulted in a change of such laws. Bob also chaired two
subcommittees and was vice chair of one legislative committee.

But when his own party changed the rules to hold secret, unrecorded votes in subcommittee and limit bills members could introduce, Bob was the only Republican who voted “No!”

Bob Marshall is a lawmaker who sees his job through the eyes of citizens, not political party power brokers. He believes that government should serve “we the people.” That’s why I support and encourage

you to support the reelection of Bob Marshall this November!

Bob Marshall is a voice of reason in times of obscured truth, redefinition of immorality, counterfeit marriage imposed by activist judges and aggressive homosexual lobby and he doesn’t play politics when it comes to the sanctity of human life.

Bob Marshall is the William Wilburforce of our time and America desperately needs more men like him!

Bob Marshall belongs in the Senate!

And why not the White House!

Delegate Marshall,

I know parents of children with autism are thankful for your support and advocacy on their behalf.

Keep up the outstanding work you are doing for all of your constituents.

While it’s laudable that Bob Marshall wants to add $1.90 a month to the cost of health insurance to support autism, it’s sad that he refuses to support an increase of only $0.42 to bring $125 million in federal money to Virginia to support unemployment benefits at a time when some communities in the Commonwealth have unemployment rates of 20%. Marshall’s rigid far right conservative ideology stands in the way of too many sound solutions to the problems Virginians face everyday.

Advocator,

Your comment,“ It’s his combination of brains and cajones that strikes fear into his colleagues and evokes loyalty from his constituents.“ I prefer to use the Italian translation for cajones,“culiones"because it better describes what it takes to legislate with those in the Virginia General Assembly who have a “mob mentality”

Bravo! Delegate Marshall

The way I see it, independent just means non partisan.  Work for the good of the people in an ethical way and not strapped down with labels.

He has my vote…

Delegate Bob Marshall has the intelligence, determination, and tenacity to stand up for his constituents and his convictions.  He has the uncanny ability to navigate the shark invested waters of the Virginia General Assembly. He refuses to play the “Pay to Play” game Virginia is well noted for.

Delegate Marshall will win re-election once his opponents ultra-liberal political views are out in the open.  His previous opponent finally got the message, hopefully, Mr. Bell will soon
find out that the majority of Virginians don’t agree with his extreme views.

It is important for all who support Delegate Marshall come out on election day and vote.

You say Marshall isn’t a committee chairman because he’s an independent, but his inability to work with others means very little of his legislation ever makes it out of committee. Residents of the 13th district need a leader who can help them, not use the House of Delegates as his personal stage. Marshall is not an “independent” by choice. He’s a loose cannon and no one will work with him—not even members of his own party.

My entire family supports Bob Marshall, and not all of us are Republicans. GO BOB!

It’s his combination of brains and cajones that strikes fear into his colleagues and evokes loyalty from his constituents.

Drive on, Bob.

I absolutely agree - Bob Marshall is one of the few pure heart and pure mind politicians who represent their constituents and I believe Bob Marshall belongs at least in the Senate!

Bob Marshall also possesses a briliant mind and intelect… which makes him unique in the house of delegates… lol
