Myrtle Beach reaches Mills Cup vs. Nationals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans advanced to the Mills Cup Saturday afternoon by coming from behind to eliminate Winston-Salem 11-5.
Myrtle Beach will play host to the first two Mills Cup games, beginning Monday night against the Nationals. First pitch is set for 7:05.
The two will play in Myrtle Beach again Tuesday night at 7:05, before an off day on Wednesday.
The series resumes at Potomac on Thursday, also at 7:05.
It is a Best-of-Five series.
Ryne Reynoso captured the mound victory, working seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, with two walks and three strikeouts.
Reliever Michael Dubee was hammered by the Pelicans, allowing four runs on three hits, with two walks and two strikeouts in just 1.1 innings of work.
Dubee suffered the loss.
Gorkys Hernandez was 2 for 5, with a triple for Myrtle Beach, while Travis Jones was 2 for 4, with a double, Eric Campbell a pair of singles, Ernesto Meja three RBI, Jason Hayward a double and a single and Phillip Britton a pair of singles.
Estee Harris, Ronnie Gaines and Dale Mollenhauer each doubled for Winston-Salem.
Trailing 3-2, Myrtle Beach scored six runs in the top of the seventh and three in the eighth.
Winston-Salem capped the scoring with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth.
