The Potomac Nationals avoided being swept by the Frederick Keys by winning 15-5.
Potomac recorded 16 hits, scored five runs in the fourth and four more in the eighth to get the win.
Dee Brown hit a three-run home run and Dan Lyons was 3-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Michael Martinez had two hits, including a triple, two runs scored and four RBI.
Boomer Whiting, hitting in the ninth spot, came up big as well. Whiting was 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and two runs scored.
Potomac also took advantage of Frederick’s four errors to score six unearned runs.
Potomac starting pitcher Luis Atilano ran his record to 4-0 by pitching five scoreless innings.
Atilano allowed only one hit and recorded five strikeouts.
But trouble began after Atilano left.
Nationals relief pitcher Clint Everts gave up five runs on four hits in two innings pitched. Everts also surrendered two home runs.
Things settled down after Jack Spradlin entered. Spradlin pitched two scoreless innings and gave up one hit. He recorded two strikeouts.
This victory snaps Potomac’s four-game losing streak.
