IN MANASSAS ...

The Park West Lions Charities Inc. will have an “All You Care to Eat” Spaghetti Dinner. There will be spaghetti with tomato sauce and meatballs, garden salad, garlic bread, cake, water, coffee and iced tea. This event takes place Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Park West Club Community Center, 8620 Sunnygate Drive. Admission for adults is $10 and for children 12 and younger is $5. In advance, tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children. For pre-sales, call 703-392-0077. You can also buy spaghetti sauce for $4 per quart.

Weems to host carnival

On Saturday come to the Spring Carnival at Weems Elementary. It starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. The school is located at 8750 Weems Road. There will be a silent auction with more than 50 items. There are concert tickets, gift certificates, theme baskets, entertainment certificates, etc. Go and play some games, eat some food, bid on some items and have some fun. 
Army Band to perform

The U.S. Army Band “Pershings Own” will play at the Loy E. Harris Pavilion on Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. This is a group of 75 very talented musicians. This event as always is free and open to the public. Please remember to bring your own lawn chair.

Bloom donates to school

On May 4, the Bloom grocery store at 10159 Hastings Drive donated more than 200 bottles of hand sanitizer to Jennie Dean Elementary School. A special thank you to the store manager, Mike Watring, and cashier Melissa for this generous donation.

Local couple heads to Punta Cana to celebrate

John and Sheila Rogers of Manassas will vacation this June in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, at the Excellence Resort. John and Sheila will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. This all-expense-paid trip is an anniversary gift from their son, John Rogers of Houston, Texas, who graduated from Osbourn High School and Washington and Lee University.

Happy birthday today to Shirley Delp, on Tuesday to Kerstin McMahon, on Saturday to Jeb Mann and Kim Hayden, and on Sunday to Cara Schafer.

IN MANASSAS PARK ...

United Stor-All hosts sale to benefit program

United Stor-All Manassas will host a charity yard sale to benefit the Be a Santa to a Senior program, which is sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care. Last holiday season, Be a Santa to a Senior received the support of hundreds of area volunteers and provided gifts to 631 needy and lonely seniors in Manassas Park, Manassas and Prince William County.

The yard sale will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The location of this event is United Stor-All Manassas, 8621 Sunnygate Drive, Manassas.

The fee to rent table space is $15. Donations of items are also being accepted and may be dropped off prior to Saturday. To reserve space or to arrange donation drop off, please contact United Stor-All at 703-361-3501.

Turn unwanted items into cash at sale

It’s time to change some of your unwanted items to cash. Bring all your items to this annual bargain hunter’s paradise. Vendor space is available for $5 per space. You must pre-register at Costello Park Recreation Center. There are a limited number of tables and chairs available to rent. Tables rent for $10 each. Chairs rent for $1 each. Tables and chairs must be pre-paid. Vendors must be set up by 7:30 a.m. Sorry, no food items may be sold.

This event takes place on Saturday. The rain date is Sunday. It will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Costello Park. The deadline to register is Thursday.

Yes You CAN! celebrates one year Sunday

Yes You CAN! Young Lady Young Man Youth Foundation will celebrate its first anniversary Sunday at 2 p.m. at 8487-8 Euclid Ave., Manassas Park.

To show its appreciation to the local community for its support, they will serve light refreshments. Also there will be live entertainment, raffles, giveaways and more.
