The Garden Club of Montclair will hold its 15th Annual Perennial Plant Sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Southlake Recreation Center parking lot, with a rain date of Sunday. The club will sell perennial plants, ground-covers, daylilies and small trees. The plants come from the established gardens of its members, so they will grow well in the Montclair area.
Forest Park FBLA honored at competitio
Forest Park has yet another reason to be proud! In April a large delegation of FPHS FBLA members either competed or went to support students competing at the FBLA Virginia State Competition in Reston. The results were:

» Forest Park awarded first place—largest local chapter membership in state
» Andrea Armstead, Forest Park's selection as Who's Who in FBLA
» Christian Bond, fourth place, Accounting II

» Victor E. Walden, first place, Database Design & Applicatio
» Alex Chamberlain, third place, Introduction to Technology Concept
» Mitchell Kelley, second place, Networking Concept
» Andrea Armstead, fourth place, Word Processing II
The first-, second- and third-place winners are now on their way to Anaheim, Calif., for the FBLA National Compe-tition.
Special thanks to Seth Cameron and Alma Jackson, who chaperoned; and to Dianne Stevens and Linda Krimmer, who helped prepare students for their events.
Golf association enters third week in contest
The Montclair Ladies Golf Association entered its third week of competition in the ARFAX league. Division 1, represented by Peg Matta (captain), Theresa Mandrgoc, Nancy Huff, Kim Damico, Earleen Teenor and Beverly Harmon, was hosted by Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria. The team scored 22.5 points against Evergreen Country Club and remains in sixth place. Division 3 was represented by regular team members Shirley Thorne (captain), Pam Chambers, Dale Gallentine, Carol Lucke and Carol Payne, with Doreen Buttgereit substituting. They were hosted by the Country Club of Fairfax and competed against Army Navy Country Club. The team ended the day with 56.5 points for the season to move into third place. Division 4 was comprised of Linda Wood (Captain), Sue Hebert, Bernie Drohan, Norma Dull, Mary Moran and Dottie Whibley. The team played at Washington Golf in Arlington and scored 26 points against Westwood Country Club. They continued to improve their standings with 102 points and moved into second place. ARFAX team competition will continue through the third week in May.
Congratulations to the following Montclair Ladies Golf Association "Ace of the Month" winners for April: Dottie Whibley, Chong Kuterbach, Earlean Teenor, Joan Dempster, Carol Payne, Patti Lawson, Sharon Lee, Sue Lytell and Jean Bicher.
MPOA new
MPOA Beach Reservations begin Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the MPOA building. Members may also pick up their recreation tags for 2009-10 at this time. As of May 23, homeowners will need the new 2009-10 recreation tags to be admitted to the beaches, Kid's Dominion and events.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the MPOA building conference room.
