‘Big Sexy’ muscles into the fair
Published: August 19, 2009
Justin T. may have brought sexy back, but Jimmy Z. is bringing Big Sexy to the Prince William County Fair.
Jimmy Z. is Jimmy Zaveski, who runs KYDA Pro Wrestling, which will put on a show Friday at the fair that will feature "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, a grappler perhaps as well known in the wrestling world as Justin Timberlake is in the music biz.
KYDA (which stands for "Keep Your Dreams Alive") operates a school near Manassas for those who want to enter the professional wrestling industry, and Zaveski has promoted several events over the past few years that have included big names.
But Nash, at 6 feet 10 inches tall, is in a different league physically and in terms of name recognition.
"This will be by far the biggest event that I've done," Zaveski said this week.
The grandstand show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $2 for adults in addition to fair admission. Those 17 and younger who have already paid to get into the fair can see the event for free.
Nash will be part of a tag-team with Jimmy Cicero, who grew up in Manassas, Zaveski said. They will face Bazooka Joe and Q-Sic.
Cicero is a 17-year mat veteran who now wrestles with a new mission: to raise awareness of autism, from which his son suffers.
"That's his focus and his platform now," Zaveski said.
There will be at least six matches Friday. The show will feature Lazarro Ortiz, who recently had a tryout with World Wrestling Entertainment, and two former KYDA stars, John Kermon and Jane.
Nash also will be available for a meet-and-greet with fans after the event.
