You have to love Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson; he is the bad guy in the movie we all quietly root for. He is one of the last emcees to work his way up the hip-hop ladder of success by overcoming a number of trials and tribulations. 50 possess the rare characteristic of not being satisfied by merely achieving success; he wants his name to be remembered long after he is gone. From the all-American, rags-to-riches story and onto becoming more than just another rapper, 50 has exceeded all expectations.
A year after being ranked No. 1 on Forbes Magazine's Hip Hop Cash Kings list while raking in $100 million in 2007, 50 lost his No. 1 spot to Jay Z this year.
Not only did he lose the No. 1 spot, he also got beat out by Sean "Diddy" Combs and Kanye West.
50 came in fourth this year after earning $20 million, with Kanye finishing third at an estimated $25 million and Diddy pulling in $30 million. As for the Cash King of 2009, Jay Z pulled in a "meager" $35 million.
A humble, yet obviously fuming-under-the-surface 50 Cent reacted to the news by telling XXL magazine, "I'm on deck. I'm loaded. Call me 'four' this year, and then you call me 'one' next year, because I'm really preparing for my cycle. They're fine. ...What kind of person would be upset at what position they fall when they're on the Forbes list. That person would be a complete idiot. Ask me to show you a person who's happy, and I'll show you someone who's content. And if you ask me to show you a guy who's piss poor with really nice things around him, I'll show you the guy that's on that list that's worried about being number one. And [the person] won't stay there, trust me."
Now, word has it 50 is planning to release his next album, "Before I Self-Destruct" on Sept. 11. Funny thing about this is Jay Z had already announced his new album, "The Blueprint 3" will be released on, you guessed it, Sept. 11. You gotta love it!
The 'good' Reverend prays for what!?
You may not have heard this, but here's a bit of news that is quietly being swept under the rug: A reverend by the name of Wiley Drake publicly acknowledged he is praying for the death of President Barack Obama. The head of the First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., revealed his conversations with The Man Upstairs during a Fox News radio interview last month.
During the interview, Wiley was responding to critics of a previous statement, saying the shooting death of an abortion doctor was an answer to his "imprecatory prayer."
He said "imprecatory prayer is agreeing with God. ... God said it, I didn't. I was just agreeing with God."
When the interviewer asked Wiley if there was anyone else he had imprecatorally prayed about, Wiley answered with, "The usurper that is in the White House is one, B. Hussein Obama."
The stupified interviewer went on: "Are you praying for his death?," to which Wiley answered: "Yes…If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, that's correct."
Current vice president of the SBC, Roger Oldham, stated, "I think it is a fair statement to say that the vast majority of Southern Baptists are committed to praying for the well-being of the president in accordance with the specific instruction given in 1 Timothy 2:1-3."
The term "imprecatory prayer" is new to me, but to pray for someone's death makes me wonder exactly to whom Wiley prays!
Nia Tells Beyoncé: Stick to Singing
And just when you thought celebrity battles only took place in hip-hop, Nia Long called out Beyoncé in a recent interview with Pride Magazine. In the interview, Long states "I didn't see 'Obsessed,' so I can't comment, but it's just not about how talented you are anymore. It's about, 'How much box office revenue will this person generate?' When you see certain people—we won't name names—they just don't have the skill, and no one in their team has said, 'You need acting classes.' "
Keep in mind Beyoncé starred in "Obsessed" alongside Idris Elba.
Now if Bey would only respond; we haven't had a good public catfight in while…'Til next week, Peace!!!
