Toddler Halloween Party, Friday Oct. 23, 5 to 8 p.m., Kid Drop Zone, at 6888 Piedmont Center Plaza in Gainesville, is holding a Halloween party for toddlers, ages 2 to 5. Haunted History Hike, Friday Oct. 23 and Saturday Oct. 24, 7 to 9:30 p.m., Leesylvania State Park, Take a guided night hike and hear story’s about the park’s history. After the hike, there will be hay rides and crafts for kids. Cost for the hike is $2 per person or $6 for a group of four. Hay ride tickets are $2 a person or $6 for a group of four. The Hauntings of Haymarket Hollow, Friday Oct. 23 from 8 to 10 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. the Boy Scouts of the Nations capital are hosting the Hauntings of Haymarket Hollow at Camp William B. Snyder, 6100 Antioch Road in Haymarket. The event includes a haunted house, hayrides, face painting and more. Pre-sale tickets are available at http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org for $9. Tickets at the door are $10. All ages are welcome.
Halloween Safari, Friday Oct. 23 and Saturday Oct. 24, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Bull Run Mountain Conservncy, at 17405 Beverly Mill Drive, Broad Run, is holding their annual Halloween Safari, a non-scary night hike open to all ages. A guide will lead hikers along a trail where actors will perform natural history skits. Cost is $7 per person in advance or $10 at the door. Pre-registration is required for the 7 to 8 p.m. timeslots and walk-ins are taken from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Cost includes snacks, hot cider, a bonfire and live music.


The Haunted Nut House, Saturday, Oct. 24, 9 to 11 p.m., Kid Drop Zone, at 6888 Piedmont Center Plaza in Gainesville, is transforming into a haunted house for the night. Visitors can explore the Tunnel of Terror, the Un-Living Room, the Dread Room and Hannibal’s kitchen. The cost is $10 per person and the event is not recommended for young children. Haunted Ben Lomond Tours, Saturday, Oct. 24, tours at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Ben Lomond Historic Site, at 10321 Sudley Manor Drive, Manassas is opening its doors for tours of the house that serves as a Confederate hospital after the battle of First Manassas in 1981. Come hear about ghosts that some believe haunt the house, outbuildings and garden. The cost is $5 a person and reservations are recommended. Call 703-367-7872. Tours may not be suitable for children under 12.

Free trick-or-treating, Saturday,Oct. 24, noon to 4 p.m., the Potomac Festival and Festival at Old Bridge shopping centers are hosting free trick or treating Saturday. The Festival at Old Bridge, located at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Dillingham Square will offer trick-or-treating from noon to 2 p.m. and Potomac Festival, at the intersection of Potomac Mills Road and Opitz Boulevard, will offer trick-or-treating from 2 to 4 p.m.

Halloween at the Mall, Friday, Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m., Potomac Mills Mall is holding a Halloween event that will include trick-or-treating throughout the mall and other Halloween activities.


Ghosts of Brentsville, Friday Oct. 30 and Saturday Oct. 31, starting at 7:30 p.m. Prince William County’s Historic Preservation Disvision is holding a seminar on paranomal activities and ghosts at Brentsville Historic Centre, 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow. The event begins with a classroom seminar discussing theories and methods of paranormal investgations from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. from 9 p.m. to midnight join members of East Coast Research and Investigation of the paranormal as they investigate the Brentsville Historic Centre, looking for signs of ghosts. Trunk or Treat, Saturday, Oct. 31, The City of Manassas Park is holding its first annual Trunk or Treat event in the city hall parking lot from 6 to 8 p.m. Kids are invited to wear costumes to the free event that includes pumpkin decorating, crafts, a hayride a moonbounce and candy.

Fall Festival & Trick-or-Treating, Saturday, Oct. 31, 3 to 6 p.m. Manassas Mall, at 8300 Sudley Road in Manassas is hold a fall festival and trick or treating event in the food court area. The free event includes a magic show, face painting, a balloon artist and trick-or-treating throughout the mall.

Haunted Heights Ghost walk, Historic Dumfries Virginia Inc. is hosting family friendly walking tours every Friday and Saturday in October. Tours begin every half hour between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Tours fill up fast and reservations are strongly recommended. Tours begin at the Musem Annex, 3944 Cameron Street, Dumfries, goes to the Weems-Botts Museum and to Merchant Park. Tour will include stories about ghosts said to haunt Dumfries. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 17. Call 703-221-2218 for reservations or more information.
