Manassas Museum’s Christmas through the Ages program will be held Dec. 11 - 12 at Liberia Plantation, a museum historic property. The special holiday program will feature glimpses of Christmas celebrations during pivotal years in American history. Costumed soldiers and civilians will portray the hardship Civil War year of 1862, the turn of the century in 1900, the post-World War II era in 1945, and the rapidly changing society of 1970. Tours will begin at the museum every half hour between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., and will last approximately 45 minutes. Buses will transport visitors to Liberia from the museum. Tickets for the Christmas through the Ages at Liberia Plantation are $15 in advance, $20 on the day of the event, and $10 for children under 16.
Sugarloaf Crafts Festival kicks off Dec. 11 and runs until Dec. 13 at the Dulles Expo Center. The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will celebrate the diversity in American crafts with more than 250 juried artists from across the country, live demonstrations from master craftspeople, and music and entertainment for the entire family. Adult admission to the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival is $7 when purchased online, $8 for adults at the door, and free for children under 12. Town of Dumfries 35th annual Holiday Parade at 1 p.m.
The Center for Ballet Arts kicks off its holiday season with a performance of the “Nutcracker in a Nutshell” at the Chinn Park Regional Library at 2 p.m. This is a free, drop-in family program. No tickets or registration is necessary.
The Prince William County Historic Preservation Division will hosts two Holiday Concerts featuring songs of the season will be held at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow, VA 20136. The 5 p.m. concert will be performed by the Brentsville District High School Women’s Treble Ensemble and the 6 p.m. concert will be a performance by the Brentsville District Mixed Vocal Ensemble. This event is free.
The Voce Chamber Singers with The McLean Symphony present, “SOUNDS OF THE BAROQUE: A CHRISTMAS CONCERT” Saturday at 7:30 pm, St John Neumann Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, Virginia 20191 and Sunday at 3 pm, St Timothy’s Church 432 Van Buren Street, Herndon, Virginia 20170. Advance purchase tickets are available - only $18 for adults, $13 for seniors and $8 for students (purchase at least 24 hours prior to concert). Saturday, Dec. 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Santa Claus visits the National Museum of the Marine Corps and poses for photos.
