The Summer Players

  • SLIDESHOW
Pitcher Josh Judy throws a pitch from the mound against Luray's Andrew Frezza to his teammate catcher Ryan Reed.
The Valley Baseball League, a league partly funded by Major League Baseball, hosts 11 teams with college students playing in and around the Shenandoah Valley area in Virginia.  The Haymarket Senators located at Battlefield High School came to Prince William County in 2005.

The start of the season began in late May with a group meeting to sign a contract for the season and pickup uniforms.  The uphill battle began shortly into the season when the team’s former owner ran into a financial crisis and the VBL was forced to assume control with the volunteers running the day-to-day operations.
