Man charged with going wrong way on U.S. 15
A 41-year-old Gainesville man was arrested on several charges after a car was spotted going the wrong way on U.S. 15 on Nov. 21, Prince William County police said.
A patrol officer saw a 2005 Volkswagen TDI traveling south in the northbound lanes of U.S. 15 near Dominion Valley Drive about 11 p.m., police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
The officer stopped the car, but the driver sped away, finally stopping in the area of Picketts Store Place, Hernandez said.
Kevin Richard Zinn of 15645 Picketts Store Place was arrested and charged with eluding police, resisting arrest, driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on a highway.
Zinn was held on $5,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 20.
Nokesville man faces DUI, drug charges
A Nokesville man, stopped on suspicion of drunken driving, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Prince William County police said.
An officer stopped a car about 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the area of Nokesville and Aden roads in Nokesville, said police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
John Leroy Cross II, 49, of 12715 Carriage Ford Road, was initially arrested for driving under the influence, Hernandez said.
But the arresting officer found drugs in the car he was driving, she said.
Cross was held on $2,500 bond and is due in court Jan. 22.
Woman, 22, charged with prescription fraud
Prince William County police arrested a 22-year-old woman in the Haymarket area Nov. 22 on a charge of prescription fraud.
Police came to a pharmacy in the 5500 block of Merchants View Square near Haymarket about 4 p.m., department spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
Brooke Lee Reighard of 11926 Palmer Lane in the Haymarket area is accused of attempting to get pain medication with a fraudulent prescription, Hernandez said.
Reighard was held on $20,000 bond and is due in court Jan. 21.
Woman: Peeping tom watched me Monday
A peeping tom was reported in the 10800 unit block of Gambril Drive near Manassas about 5:45 a.m. Monday.
A 46-year-old woman told Prince William County police that a man was standing outside and watching her through a window of her apartment, department spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
The man took off when the woman tried to confront him. He didn’t try to enter her apartment and was gone by the time police arrived, Hernandez said.
He was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall and thinly built.
Money reported stolen from house on Nimitz
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen Nov. 21 from a house in the 9800 block of Nimitz Court near Manassas, Prince William County police said.
A woman reported that she was gone between 11 and 11:45 a.m., police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
When she returned, Hernandez said, she saw two boys running from her house, though there were no signs of forced entry.
One boy was described as black and about 16 years old. He stood about 5 feet 9 inches tall, was heavily built, had brown hair and was wearing a red sweater and jeans.
The second boy was described as white and about 15 years old. He appeared to be about 5 feet 8 inches, was thinly built, had brown hair, and was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
Traffic stop leads to marijuana charge
A 22-year-old Woodbridge man faces a drug charge after Prince William County police stopped his car Wednesday.
A patrol officer stopped a car about 12:25 a.m. in the area of Smoketown Road and Golansky Boulevard in Woodbridge, police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
Gregory William Theodis of 12340B Midsummer Lane was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Hernandez said.
Gun charge follows Dumfries traffic stop
A 29-year-old Woodbridge resident faces a gun charge after a car was stopped in Dumfries, Prince William County police said.
A patrol officer stopped the car in the area of U.S. 1 and Va. 234 about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
The officer arrested Simone Drew Ashby of 5629 Northton Court on a charge of possessing a handgun without a concealed weapon permit.
Ashby was released on a summons and is due in court Jan. 12.
Trio of thieves steals cash, documents
A man was robbed about 1:10 a.m. Wednesday in the 5400 block of Quatas Place in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said.
The man was walking home when he was approached by three black men who threatened him with an unknown object and demanded money, police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
They took cash and personal objects from him, but did not harm him, Hernandez said.
The thieves are described as follows:
• The first man appeared to be between 18 and 20 years old and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He stood 5 feet 7 inches tall, and had a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
• The second man seemed to be between 18 and 20 years old and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. He was about 5 feet 7 inches and had a medium build.
• The third man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. He was about 5 feet 5 inches, and had a medium build, black hair and brown eyes.
Convenience store robbed on Thanksgiving
A convenience store in the 4100 block of Talon Drive near Dumfries was robbed about 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Prince William County police said.
A man entered the store, threatened the clerk with a gun and demanded money, police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.
The thief left the business with an undisclosed amount of cash, Hernandez said.
He was described as black and between 18 and 25 years old, she said. He was wearing black clothes and a ski mask.
