Police charge mother in teen’s disappearance

Police late Tuesday charged the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported missing last week in connection with the teen’s disappearance.

Alfreedia Leona Gregg-Glover, 44, of 8245 Sunset Drive outside Manassas, is charged with felony child neglect and filing a false police report. She is being held without bond.

Police last night did not elaborate on the charges. A news conference is planned for 11 a.m.

Gregg-Glover was arrested after a search of her home Tuesday evening. Detectives would not say what they were looking for or what they found.

Alexis Glover was reported missing from the Central Library in Manassas about noon on Jan. 7. The girl had severe autism and chronic medical problems and frequently ran away. She wore a GPS bracelet from the Prince William Sheriff’s Office Project Lifesaver program to help keep track of her.

On Friday, a resident taking a walk on Asdee Lane near the McCoart Administration Building — about eight miles from the library — found the girl’s body submerged in a creek.

Police said they have not officially ruled the case a homicide, but are calling it a suspicious death. Autopsy results on the girl’s body have not been released.

Prince William Police Chief Charlie T. Deane told reporters Friday that evidence in the case pointed to a homicide, but did not elaborate.

Tuesday’s arrest comes a day after Alexis’ mother issued a plea asking for anyone who knew anything about her daughter’s death to come forward. Freedia Glover adopted the girl seven years ago.

Police conducted an exhaustive two-day search for the girl after Glover reported that Alexis ran away from her near the library.

On Tuesday night, police searched at least four cars parked outside the Glover house as neighbors watched.

Police would not say if the Glover family consented to the search, or if detectives had a search warrant.

Blue Dog~ This will be the last time I reply to any of your comments as it is now getting ridiculous.  Your words: “I am guessing, but do not know for a fact, that this woman was probably in a great deal of distress and pain.“  Again, that is NO justification for this crime should the “mother” have done it.  I just pray and ask that whatever pain and distress that you might endure, that I am not in your path as by making such a comment as that, it appears that you are justifying her actions.  I can speak for myself and myself only when I say that not once have I been “self righteous.“  Have I also said a prayer for this “mother?“  Yes, but with the facts that have been told thus far, the prayer that I have said for her is for the Lord to bring conviction to her heart and to lay his hands on those in her family that have become innocent bystanders.  I am not going to dwell on this much more as at this point, your opinion is your opinion but I have a free-will in what I read and nurture my mind with, and Blue Dog, there is nothing nurturing in your comments nor do I find them worth my time in reading them.  And no, not having time so that I can watch Springer or Oprah..I am one in a decision making position and I have decided to leave you be in your senseless comments.

Just out of curiosity, do you self-righteous folks only pray for those you like or whose actions you approve of?

I am guessing, but do not know for a fact, that this woman was probably in a great deal of distress and pain.  Most sincere people who pray for others do not exclude.

We can remove people from society but in the final analysis, it is not us who judge.

And yes anonymous, even though I am too stupid to convey it, I do believe you have grasped the concept.

Big Red, what if you stoned an innocent person to death?  Then what would it make you?  That is why we don’t believe everything we read in the paper, why we shouldn’t listen to gossip, and why we find out the facts first, before we start throwing those stones.  I seriously doubt if you will ever understand what I am trying to say.  I am just glad you are at home blogging rather than in a decision making position where you might avoid gathering facts.  What’s going on with Springer today?  How about Oprah?

Whew, I don’t even know where to begin except to say Doggie Doggie here’s a bone!! I’m not understanding the defense of this woman either. I hear Dogg say that she has to wait to hear the facts and she didn’t want to stone her yet. How much more do you need to hear? The article said “Woman dumps body” that tell you that she did something horrible and horrific to this little girl. I don’t need any more facts than that to stone her. I don’t need to know if she was the one to actually kill her. The roll she played as we know it so far makes her GUILTY and for me there is no defense. I wont say poor kids w/out a mother b/c who needs one like that? Really Dogg are you serious in your comments or are you just Bull Sh!tting. I cannot believe that you would actually defend such a person. Personally I hope she gets whatever is coming to her. Paul Ebert needs to really throw the book at her.  Lexi I do apologize for what u went through baby girl. You did not deserve this. Your life was already a struggle.  My heart breaks for her and so many like her.
Dogg the only prayer for you is that those four legs your standing on become two and you have a real heart a human heart!!

What it appears to me is that blue dog is trying to tell everyone on this blog that before the name-calling starts and the bashing begins on this “mother” that we should wait until the full story and facts are let out to the public.  Unfortunately, I do not feel that blue dog is intelligent enough to word it eloquently enough for it to come across as such, hence it coming off that this person is either defending or standing behind this “mother.“  Again, it is comments such as that, that truly take away from what all of our attention, prayers and thoughts should be on..this little girl.  Out of this whole situation the only thing in our power as by-standers, neighbors, loved ones, friends, etc. can do is to remember this innocent child and to take it into our hands to pay closer attention to from what it sounds like, signs that trouble was ensuing but nobody stood up to say anything, or if they did, then Social Services did not take the reports seriously.  God rest this little girl’s soul who will now never be able to attend a Homecoming dance, Prom, college, etc.  And for those few comments I saw on here trying to justify this as saying that autistic children can be a handful, etc. and maybe that is why the “mother” lashed out..I am appalled and there is NO reason nor justification why such a heinous crime like this should’ve occurred due to an innocent and beautiful child being “too much.“  Comments such as that break my heart even more and it is people like that making those comments that I will now keep a closer eye on just in case something tragic like this were to occur again.

Yes I agree with msztkane60, anonymous1, stpkillnourkids , stopthegossip and others.  You guys let’s just forget about what bluedog is saying it’s evident in her writings that she’s a family member of this COLD BLOODED MURDERER and now she’s addressing her as (Freedia) which we all know for a FACT that she should be called MURDERER FREEDIA.  Anyone that wants to have compassion or sympathy for a mother that dumps her child’s body in a cold stream and as far as we know she could have been alive is a SICK and CRAZED person who is probably mistreating her own kids.  You know the saying “birds of a feather flock together” I really pray that she has NO kids at all and now she has a nerve to say “a dead child and other children without a mother” this bi$%# is truly a monster herself. Now she sitting back calling this murderer a mother…someone please help me out here!!
I can see why you brought up Jerry Springer because I’m sure you have been on there numerous of times with that retarded mentality of yours!! When they give your murderer cousin/friend(freedia) “LIFE IN PRISON “ make sure you send her plenty of money for the rest of her life you SICK A$$..
I’m with you anonymous1 we should focus on celebrating the life of this little girl and remembering her it’s people like doggy and her comments that angers me to the fullest!! She sounds as sick as the murderer!! EVERYONE PLEASE LET’S PRAY THAT DOGGY COMES TO THE LIGHT!!

Stop and Red are both becoming entertaining now, if one likes Jerry Springer type shows.

Again, I am not defending the mother.  I said I would wait until facts are in to stone her.  I never said people shouldn’t feel emotion.  I said emotional hysterics should not replace fact-finding.  Therefore I will wait to cast judgment.

I see no reason why praying for both Lexie and her mother would not be appropriate.

I agree with stpkillourkids.  This woman deserves no compassion.  She was involved in someway with the murder of her own child or the police wouldn’t of had her arrested. I wish we could know more about the case, but we will have to wait.    And yes, children can be difficult at times especially one with disabilities.  Why did she adopt this child if she knew she couldn’t handle the pressure.  Perhaps, it was because it made her feel good to have the power over this defenseless little girl.  We hear about men who harm woman and would rather kill them then let them go.  She sounds to me, that she liked to bully this child and made it seem that she was running away because she was emotionally unstable because of her autism.  This little girl was probably running away from her tirant mother and she wore a bracelet just so she could be returned to her evil step mother’s cruelty again and again.  This little girl had no one to turn to. How sad.  She is certainly now with the angels and yes I repeat once again No one can hurt her anymore.

After reading all of the comments, I think the main thing we should focus on until everything is put out in the open about this “mother” is to focus on celebrating the life that little girl had and remembering her.  An innocent child, who already had a difficult life due to her disabilities was taken away from us in a way that no one should be taken away.  It breaks my heart to try and even comprehend what went on in those last moments of that innocent child’s life.  It appears the police are on the right track and justice will be served.

After checking this site in the last few days, I have not seen anymore updates as to what else is going on with the mother being in custody, etc.  Does or has anybody else seen on the internet or any other news feed any new details as to what is going on with this case?

Excuse me DOGG but I am a grown woman who is just expressing my feelings towards your comments and if you can’t handle it then LOG OFF. How can you sit there and say people are getting to emotional A CHILD HAS BEEN MURDERED and I don’t know which part of that you don’t get but most of us w/ beating hearts can’t help but to feel emotional and outraged after something like this. Come on you sound so ignorant in your attempt to sound educated and proper but I’m not buying it and frankly you are not worth it. You stay waiting for the facts and praying for Freedia and I’ll continue praying for the child.

Let’s get past the emotional hysteria.  I never defended her.  I said I wanted to get the facts before I stoned her to death.

This thread is just loaded with poor grammar and immaturity.  The police have not released all the facts.  I will wait until I find out the facts before I rant, rave, and brand this woman a murderer.  And no, I do not know her.

Keep ranting.  Nothing anyone can say will give you all the ability to discern fact from emotional hysterial and gossip.

And I will decide how to feel about Freedia after the police release their report.  Right now, it is all just sad.  A dead child and other children without a mother.
