Police charge mother in teen’s disappearance
Police late Tuesday charged the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported missing last week in connection with the teen’s disappearance.
Alfreedia Leona Gregg-Glover, 44, of 8245 Sunset Drive outside Manassas, is charged with felony child neglect and filing a false police report. She is being held without bond.
Police last night did not elaborate on the charges. A news conference is planned for 11 a.m.
Gregg-Glover was arrested after a search of her home Tuesday evening. Detectives would not say what they were looking for or what they found.
Alexis Glover was reported missing from the Central Library in Manassas about noon on Jan. 7. The girl had severe autism and chronic medical problems and frequently ran away. She wore a GPS bracelet from the Prince William Sheriff’s Office Project Lifesaver program to help keep track of her.
On Friday, a resident taking a walk on Asdee Lane near the McCoart Administration Building — about eight miles from the library — found the girl’s body submerged in a creek.
Police said they have not officially ruled the case a homicide, but are calling it a suspicious death. Autopsy results on the girl’s body have not been released.
Prince William Police Chief Charlie T. Deane told reporters Friday that evidence in the case pointed to a homicide, but did not elaborate.
Tuesday’s arrest comes a day after Alexis’ mother issued a plea asking for anyone who knew anything about her daughter’s death to come forward. Freedia Glover adopted the girl seven years ago.
Police conducted an exhaustive two-day search for the girl after Glover reported that Alexis ran away from her near the library.
On Tuesday night, police searched at least four cars parked outside the Glover house as neighbors watched.
Police would not say if the Glover family consented to the search, or if detectives had a search warrant.

blue dogg I as a loving caring compassionate MOTHER who would do anything to protect my children am truly offended that you would have the audacity to come on and actually defend this monster and I say monster because she is NO Mother. A Mother protects her children under any means necessary no questions asked under any circumstances and this we know from the facts and history she did not do this time or any other time in this precious child’s short lived life on this earth. How dare you say that you have any sympathy or compassion for a person like that and then to even say you feel for her because maybe she was overwhelmed and snapped, are you serious or crazy or are you just RELATING to her?? and just to give you a little NEWS FLASH all kids are overwhelming at times and yes they can make you very very angry but under no circumstances do we or are we ever to hurt them in any way that would cause bodily harm or DEATH. Having a computer does not mean someone is enlightened or informed. No, you don’t know the details of this crime. They have not been released yet.
Most importantly, Mrs. Glover will stand trial. Her guilt or innocence will be determined then.
Furthermore, you have said I am a sick person and a murderer. Those are libelous statements. Those comments are inappropriate. You don’t know me or if I even have children.

Okay help me out here. blue-doggette, why are you attacking? Who dont know the facts. The police have given us enough to know that this mother had alot to do w/Lexi’s death. What dont you get about that. We might not know the surrouning the fact that led to it but we know she played a part. Thats not judging her! I would like to think that anyone who knew first had what was going on would have did the right thing and reported it. Lexi is an innocent child here. NOT the mother by far. Im not sure what articles your reading but you need to read them again!!

We’ll I figure like this. This little girl had odds against her already. She was fighting forces bigger and stronger than she was. Her so called Mother took advantage of that. Big-Red got the info about the abuse from the paper. It said that she ran to a neighbor’s house bleeding from a cut to her head. So we can assume from that and other statements that she was being abused. Why else would she keep running away?? What mentally challenged child would run from a loving home?? I don’t think that anyone on this post is judging the Mother. The facts speak for its self. She may not have been charged w/ the murder yet but the fact that she is involved at all tells us she is cold blooded. IF she did not kill her she knows who did!! My God she disposed of her body then pleaded for help to find her. She is sick and twisted. She couldn’t see w/ that big nose on her face that she was wrong!!
