A Fauquier County Public Schools teacher is in jail after police say they found drugs and pornographic material involving underage people at his Bealeton home earlier this month.

Scott. C. Howe, 33, is being held on $120,000 bond at the Fauquier County Adult Detention Center. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, producing or making child pornography and crimes against nature.

According to Fauquier sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Col. Paul Mercer, Cpl. S.P. Healy responded to Howe’s Jester Court residence for a reported drug violation Aug. 11.

When he arrived, the deputy reported that marijuana plants were in the backyard in plain view.

Further investigation revealed evidence of a sexual nature involving an underage person. Howe was arrested on Aug. 12.

Mercer said search warrants were obtained for computers and other electronic items in Howe’s residence.

Fauquier County schools spokeswoman Karen Parkinson confirmed that Howe is a teacher in the school division and that school officials are aware of the charges against Howe.

Parkinson did not say which school Howe worked at and declined further comment on the matter.
