Trial date set in Glover case

A July trial date has been set for a woman charged in the death of her adopted daughter.

Substitute Prince William Circuit Court Judge Herman A Whisenant set Alfreedia Gregg-Glover’s trial for July 6, 7 and 8.

Prosecutors are requesting that she stand trial before a jury.

Gregg-Glover, 44, is charged with murder, felony murder, child abuse and filing a false police report for the death of her 13-year-old adopted daughter Alexis Lexie Glover.

Gregg-Glover reported Lexie missing from Central Library in Manassas on Jan. 7, sparking a massive search for the girl.

Her body was found in a shallow creek near the McCoart Administration building in Woodbridge two days later.

Prosecutors allege that Gregg-Glover placed the girl in the creek while she was still alive.

According to a medical examiner’s report, Lexie died of drowning and exposure to the cold.

Since Lexie’s death allegations have surfaced that Gregg-Glover abused her during her life.

Neighbors and others who knew Lexie have said they reported incidents of abuse to the police and social services officials.

Last month the Prince William Board Supervisors asked the Virginia Department of Social Services to conduct a review of the County Department of Social Services in connection Lexie’s case.

Earlier this week the Prince William County police department announced that they are also conducting a review of how the police handled Lexie’s case.

Gregg-Glover is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Jail.

I also wonder what role Social Services and Child Protective Services had in this childs death.
Why is it that they are not commenting on this case? We keep hearing that they are not allowed, however, this child is dead. This child lived in a world where she had to fight day after day against unbearable conditions and the people whose job it was to help her, abandoned her.  Who investigated this Gregg-Glover woman and who signed the adoption papers? How much money did this woman make torturing a little girl?  What steps were taken by Social services and Child Protective Services when the alleged abuse was reported?  Were they even taken seriously by these agencies? It does not look like it.

It seems to me that Social Services and the Child Protective Services spend more time destroying families than they do helping the children such as Lexie.  Why?

There are many cases in their care right now where families are being unnecessarily ripped apart due to their inconsistancies.  What exactly is their job?
The Social Service and Child Protection Services seem to be unorganized, lack communications and unethical in the way that documentation is handled. I hope that the News Media stays on top of this case.  I would really appreciate the information on how my tax dollars are being spent with these agencies and would like to see those people who screwed up pay for what they have done.

I do wonder where the County Department of Social Services was and how they may be partly responsible for this young girls death.  I suppose it will end up being more of the same excuses; overworked, understaffed, underpaid etc.  I wonder if Social Services can and should be held accountable for their lack of good judgement in this case.

I can not know what anyone involved is feeling but I feel contempt for anyone with knowledge that did nothing…
