DNC ads target Rep. Frank Wolf
The Democratic National Committee plans to air radio ads slamming Rep. Frank R. Wolf for his recent vote against the health-care reform bill.
Wolf, who represents Manassas, Manassas Park and part of western Prince William County, is one of 32 Republicans the DNC is targeting.
Those are lawmakers who voted against the health care bill Nov. 7 but who also represent congressional districts President Barack Obama carried last year.
DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a prepared statement that the legislators thought it was risky politically to vote for the bill but that the real "peril" came in "siding with big insurance companies and voting against reform."
"These representatives are failing at their most basic responsibility: advocating for what's in the best interests of their constituents," Woodhouse said Monday. "As health care costs continue to rise, and their voters seek the change they voted for in 2008, these Republicans have instead sided with the health insurance industry and the status quo on health care."
The DNC's commercial mentions the telephone number for the Capitol switchboard and tells constituents in Virginia's 10th District to contact Wolf.
"Congressman Wolf voted against ending discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, against reining in skyrocketing premiums and against expanding health coverage to more Americans," it says. "Congressman Wolf joined Republicans in Washington and voted against real reform. He stood with the health insurance industry instead of us."
Wolf's chief of staff declined to comment on the commercial when contacted Tuesday.
Locally, GOP Rep. Robert J. Wittman, who represents southern Prince William, also voted against the heath care bill. Democrat Gerald E. "Gerry" Connolly, the area's other House member, voted for it.
Activists and groups on both sides of the health care divide have been vocal over the past few days. They've been thanking some lawmakers for their votes and criticizing others for theirs.

Its sad that Ol’Bummer has shattered all previous deficit records. Isn’t that right Ray?
Middle Class America, “ Wake Up”.
Yes, many people paid for many
years into Medicare, while work
ethics was a “given”.
In the year 2000, while “dancing
with Mexico”, Medicare was changed
for the former Part B, that most
hard working people knew they had
to pay a premium for involving
“outpatient care” was changed to
be paid under Part A, with NO
premium for those who do not pay
medicare premiums, and perhaps never
contributed. This bill now includes
a subsidy for “those that cannot
afford to pay” other coverages under
Part B…like I said earlier….
middle-class America “wake up”....
Let’s go back to work ethic and
not “expecting”.....
“(... cause they are going to find waste, waste they can’t find without this bill???)“
Agreed, find the waste first then come back to me with a plan to spend it in a productive manner.
“a plan that will raise your payroll taxes ..“
Yet, why shouldn’t the Haves pay more to support the Have Nots - the very Have Nots the Haves WILL NOT support through higher consumer pricing, although the Haves expect US to pay higher prices for the services THEY provide so they can have insurance?
Still waiting for YOUR plan Joni to have all working Americans enjoy the same coverage as your family does - on our taxpayer dime.
“a plan that will use a rollback of the tax breaks given to every single American under the Bush administration”
Can anyone say “record deficit under the Bush administration” !
Where are the jobs this returning of tax dollars was supposed to create?
“plan that will make YOU pay for the billions of dollars the unions owe in legacy costs that they can’t afford”
And yet again, Joni sees no problem with YOU AND I (taxpayers) funding the legacy costs of HER HUSBAND’S insurance. Why is it different Joni?
“a plan that will limit your care (did you see the new guidelines for Breast Cancer Screening?“
Put together by a BUSH ADMINISTRATION panel - and already shot down by the Obama Administration.
“and this was just the first step in getting everyone prepared for government intervention in into your health care.“
Tell the truth. Toss the blame back on GWB where it belongs.
“I know there is a lack of HONESTY on this blog, but, ask yourself this, if a lobbyist has visited Bush 22 times in just a few months, and then Congress passed a bill that would bail them out and or give them what they want, WOULD YOU BE SCREAMING?“
A key difference Joni is that WE KNOW who’s been to the White House lobbying.
There was no sunshine in the Bush administration if you recall. Remember Cheney refusing to say which energy officials helped draft the ‘energy policy’ that led to $4.00 per gallon gas?
Were YOU screaming then Joni?
“Oh, that’s right, you did, when the Energy Companies all met with the White House to talk about Energy, the outrage was DEAFENING.“
Still, would you like to share THEIR NAMES with us? And refund the year we paid the $4.00/gallon? Remember the record profits to Exxon and the Republicans refusing to support a windfall profit tax? Talk about Americans all getting a waxing!
Joni, I don’t mind you bashing the current Administration. I don’t agree with all they’re doing. But at least be fair in laying the blame where the blame is due.
I would first like to know your plan. Second, I would like to know what you DO support of the current plan. And perhaps a thought on why the Republicans did not ‘reform’ health care - you know, the good parts of reform - while they held a 6 year majority under GWB.
Yes, sometimes these pages do lack a little honesty.
well, let’s see, a massive government plan that will cost over a trillion dollars, (the lies are that it will be Deficit Neutral cause they are going to find waste, waste they can’t find without this bill???)a plan that will raise your payroll taxes (I know, they promised you no new taxes, but this isn’t really a new tax, it’s just a hike in the payroll tax,) a plan that will use a rollback of the tax breaks given to every single American under the Bush administration (I know it’s not a hike in taxes or a new tax, just a rollback of the cuts that expire next year), a plan that will set up over 200 new government agencies, a plan that will make YOU pay for the billions of dollars the unions owe in legacy costs that they can’t afford, a plan that will limit your care (did you see the new guidelines for Breast Cancer Screening? The doctors are SCREAMING about this report and this was just the first step in getting everyone prepared for government intervention in into your health care).
This is a plan that is a payoff to the Union MOB BOSSES especially SEIU and t UAW for buying the Demorats way into power in Congress and the White House. This is the payoff, this is the reason Andy Stern has been to the White House 22 times just so far this year.
I know there is a lack of HONESTY on this blog, but, ask yourself this, if a lobbyist has visited Bush 22 times in just a few months, and then Congress passed a bill that would bail them out and or give them what they want, WOULD YOU BE SCREAMING? Oh, that’s right, you did, when the Energy Companies all met with the White House to talk about Energy, the outrage was DEAFENING.
Enjoy paying for the Union MOB BOSSES who blew their member’s money and when you get cancer, breast, prostate or Pancreatic, remember that in countries with Socialized Health Care, you are between 15 and 20% more likely to die then you are in the US.
If you are over 65, enjoy the $500 BRIBE they are going to send you if you stop objecting to this Government Controlled Health Care.
Yet the people will overwhelmingly vote for Wolf this time, i just don’t get it. Anywho.
General (fake) Patton:
Where do you get your source of the allegations…or are you just suffering from mouth runoff?
Still at “Telling a lie long enough and eventually the people will believe it”, huh?
When Congressman Connolly is not threatening women constituents with arrest, he is encouraging folks to write letters on his behalf in support of his vote of YES on the health care reform bill. His constituents won’t forget his vote on the stimulus bill, cap and trade(tax) bill, and now the health care reform bill.
“I believe the health care system needs to be overhauled…“
I agree.
“not sure of the way it is being done.“
I agree.
I stand corrected kcmr. Thanks.
Ray Williams, I stand corrected…because I forgot the most important item. When you receive your Medicare B they also take out a large sum each month from your retirement for the Medicare B. If you do not take Medicare B at the beginning then later want it..you get penalized, and need to pay out a higher amount towards Medicare B. That needs to be fixed.
I believe the health care system needs to be overhauled…not sure of the way it is being done.
“Your taxpayer dollars- that is your part of your retirement, and your Medicare.“
I stand corrected kcmr. Thanks.
