Golf tournament raises $40,000
Glory Days Grill, a restaurant chain with locations in Prince William County and Manassas, conducted its 14th annual benefit golf tournament recently at the Piedmont Club, Haymarket.
The tournament raised a record $40,000.
According to concept co-founder Bob Garner, $33,000 will be given to the tournament’s main beneficiary, The Sunshine Foundation, which is the original wish-granting organization founded in 1976 by former Philadelphia police officer Bill Sample.
Funds raised from the tournament will fulfill the dreams of seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children, ages 3 to 18 nationwide.
Glory Days Grill will also make contributions totaling $7,000 to three area non-profit organizations: Jill’s House, the Magic Foundation and Shaken Baby Prevention Inc.
“My family started this tournament 21 years ago and we are proud to continue our support of the Sunshine Foundation and the many children they serve. We are also thankful for the support shown by our major sponsors, Sandy Spring Bank, US Foodservice, Anheuser Busch, Auto-Chlor, Gallo Wine, PalMar Construction, Sam Adams, Townsend Chicken and Keany Produce, who collectively donated more than $18,000. Because of the generosity of our sponsors and participants, we can keep spreading ‘the sunshine!’” said Richard Danker, Glory Days Grill co-founder.
