Rio de Janeiro wins right to host 2016 Olympics

Rio de Janeiro wins right to host 2016 Olympics

COPENHAGEN (AP) — The 2016 Olympics are going to Rio de Janeiro, putting the games in South America for the first time.

Rio beat surprise finalist Madrid in the last round of voting.

Chicago was knocked out in the first round — in one of the most shocking defeats ever handed down by the International Olympic Committee — and Tokyo was eliminated in the second round.

Rio had played heavily on the fact that South America has never previously hosted the games, while Europe, Asia and North America have done so repeatedly. Now, only Africa and Antarctica remain as continents that have not been awarded an Olympics.

Liberalized = hysterical hypochrondiac, has no plan to bail out the economy—- just negativism.

He will also expect the govt to pay for his health insurance.

Run for office?  Ha ha.  Who would vote for an idiot?

As a wingnut republican he is delighted that things are in the shape they’re in.  He has no concern for the country’s welfare or future, or people being unemployed.  He is just rabidly anti-Obama—that all that counts to him.

Maybe he slept like Rip van Winkle through the past 9 years.

It certainly wasn’t a failed “Stimulus Plan”. Over 5 million jobs lost or destroyed since Ole Bumbles took office. As far as Bush Jr. was concerned 2001-2007 wasn’t that bad, long period of high employment. It didn’t get bad until the very end of 2007, and has steadily worsened in 2009. I have to admit Bush Jr’s stimulus did put more money in my pocket, didn’t help me get a job but it was good money just the same, and i made under 30k a year with 2 kids, can’t complain. I suppose i can go on welfare or food stamps like everyone else who is. This hope and change thing basically is a crock, shouldn’t it be called business as usual or new boss same as the old boss. I have never seen people so divided on the issues. Calling police stupid and the people stupid sure didn’t help.

Hey Liberaliesd,

What was your great plan to bail out the economy?  What is your plan to to pay for your own health insurance in 20 years?  Were you one of the ones who lost their job during the past year?

Here’s a thought…instead of taking cheap shots, why don’t you run for office so you can implement your plans.

You sound delighted that things are lousy.  You must have just woke up after an 8 year nap.

It has been a common liberal belief that the rest of the world would fall in love with the US if we could only rid ourselves of Bush, and his horrible warmongering ways. If we could elect a peace loving, muslim loving, anti war, save the trees kind of President.

We’re waiting, where are all of those warm fuzzy feelings from abroad?
He can’t even score the Olympics, and liberals are waiting for terrorists to lay down their weapons and sit fireside with America to the tune of Kumbya?

“Prestige” should be the least of your concerns.  Bobble heads.

Outsider concerns don’t matter here, this is the US, phdee= Obama stooge and sycophant. Although i have no idea who he could be trying to impress. Any more Obama stooges on here. Haven’t you done enough damage in 8 months to the US with your record yearky and 10 year projected deficts. Let’s not even go on about the disastrous health care bill that a majority of Americans do not support. I sure hope he doesn’t turn his back on Afghanistan and our fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

Lib eralised (nattering nabob of negativcism):

Those topics you list about Obama are US citizen concerns, not world.  I dare say outsiders are concerned - or consider them relating to US prestige.

You must have drank all the Kool Aid yourself.

So by going to Copenhagen and losing in the first round, withdrawing from Afghanistan, creating the biggest yearly deficit in US history and the largest projected deficit in history, calling the police stupid, and forcing subpar health care, on the US people at unknown cost, who are mostly against it, as well as being a known ACORN supporter and organizer. How that has raised our prestige i will never know. Keep on drinking the Kool-Aid lemming.

Liberalised:

If it’s prestige, then Obama was certainly correct in going to copenhagen.  God knows how under the 8 years of republican Bush the US has lost almost all its prestige and standing in the world.

It’s called prestige phdee. Other than that it is a cash burn.
