It’s Anderson in the 51st
Rich Anderson
All that door-knocking seems to have paid off.
Republican Rich Anderson won the 51st District House of Delegates seat with 50.6 percent of the vote to 49.3 percent for Del. Paul F. Nichols, according to unofficial results Tuesday from the State Board of Elections.
But only 200 votes separated the two candidates, and a recount was possible.
Anderson retired Feb. 1 after a 30-year Air Force career just to run to represent northeastern Prince William County residents.
“After a long and challenging campaign against a worthy competitor, I look forward to representing the citizens of Prince William County in Richmond,“ Anderson said.
His winning strategy was to knock on as many doors in the district as possible to find out voters’ concerns and talk about his ideas.
He said his campaign had knocked on 27,000 doors, and he planned to go out in the community again today to thank voters for their support.
Anderson was following in the footsteps — literally and figuratively — of Prince William Circuit Court Clerk Michèle B. McQuigg.
McQuigg, a former county supervisor and delegate, was known for tirelessly visiting with residents.
Anderson won despite being outspent $284,137 to $516,942, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, which monitors money in politics.

Phdee you can continue mocking, insulting, denigrate members of our arm forces or police, calling anybody that disagree with you hatemonger , racist Nazi if someone speaks against Obama. Do you know if the person that you call racist in your comment is black? Do you think we can’t have a civil conversation even if someone disagree with you ? I hope you change your attitude and accept critics without taking those for offenses. Nobody take you serious. Anderson is IN and Nichols is OUT, bitter drink to pass after all your negatives comments.
Phdee a fierce independent now that is hilarious he has done nothing but attack Republican candidates. Which only tells you one thing he is not an independent.
Phdee-
Again, you prove that you have nothing worthwhile to say. I have done nothing, but express my opinions. If you don’t like my opinions, that’s fine, but don’t attack me as a person or a professional.

I could care less what you use as a pseudo name. I don’t study them.
You have a severe problem of respecting or even condoning other people’s opinions, especially if they don’t agree with yours. And you make allegations that you can’t support, such as my being unpatriotic. I just last these matters off as allegations from hatemongers.
There are over 700,000 registered sex offenders, according to Night Line tonight. How many more should be added? And pornography is a tremendous business, and very popular. The internet has provided an excellent tool for people to go on the computer and watch a little porn. All kinds of “reputable” peole have been caught with it on the home computers and at work. There is no occupation that is exempt from doing it—including police and firemen. So playing a pure and wholesome role just doesn’t impress me.
As concerns the miulitary, there is NO requirement that anyone like the military, police, fireman, teacher, or whatever, or love them either. No one is sacrosanct.
Liberal Democrat? Sorry. I am a fierce independent, and in my opinion there is no such thing as a liberal or conservative. It’s just a tag the Republicans have made up in their hatemongering tactics. It all comes down to money: the party getting the money is very
liberal”, and the party not getting it is very conservative.
If I am an idiot, then I have lots of company…like you.
The article says Anderson’s “campaign knocked on 27,000 doors…“.
Are there 27,000 houses in the 51st district?
Was everybody home?
Anderson mailed but 15,000 campaign material - 3 times. Did he overlook some houses, or maybe there aren’t 27,000 houses.
A round figure of total votes cast in Dist 41 was around 15,000.
Probably more than one person/voter lived in each of the 27,000 houses, and probably more than one person from any one house voted.
The published stats just adon’t add up.
Maybe there is a continuation of “Tell a lie long enough, and eventually people will believe it”. Or is Anderson just rying to project himself in some fantasy action reminding one of the infamous McQuigg.
Boy phdee, aren’t we a sore loser. But I really don’t expect anything different from a person who thinks police officers get their jollies finding child sex offenders on the internet and now from your unpatriotic postings obviously dislike the military. I say it again, you are an idiot and people like you are very dangerous to our country. Its a good thing there aren’t many people like you and good solid Republicans outnumber hardcore liberal Democrats like yourself.

When you have to resort to insulting a person, it’s clear you don’t have a legitimate argument to offer. Hopefully you don’t work in schools because you are a poor role model for how to deal with people who have different opinions than you.
Nichols lost phdee, and what is the criminal offense? Of course you don’t know and you continue with your rant. Poor baby. No recount either, it falls outside the 1% margin, haha.

While I appreciate your concern, I fell victim to nothing. There is no reason school boards should even be given the chance to consider hiring a criminal to work with children. If a delegate has the ability to prevent them from even being considered, then they should do it. Just my opinion.
The newspaper article says:
“Anderson retired Feb. 1 after a 30-year Air Force career just to run to represent northeastern Prince William County residents.“
Was he claiming military residency in Va. at the time? It was my understanding his only 2 skills or background was (1) military officer, aned (2) manager of missile silos in Az.
Has he ever voted in Va.?
Is there a residency requirement in order to run for state office?
Seems he failed to mention or reveal this in his campaign.
