Judge orders mental evaluation in Glover case
A judge in Prince William Circuit Court Friday ordered that the woman charged in the death of her 13-year-old adopted daughter undergo mental health evaluations.
Alfreedia Leona Gregg-Glover, 44, is charged with felony murder, first-degree murder, felony child abuse and filing a false police report in connection with the death of Alexis “Lexie” Glover.
Gregg-Glover’s attorney John Notarriani Friday asked that she undergo two mental health evaluations: one to determine her sanity at the time of the alleged crime and one to determine her competency to stand trial.
Prince William Circuit Court Judge Mary Grace O’Brien ordered the evaluations.
Notarriani said he asked for the competency evaluation because of his “inability to communicate” with Gregg-Glover about her defense.
“Her current emotional state…renders her, in effect, unavailable to me at times when I try to talk to her,” Notarriani said.
Gregg-Glover reported Lexie missing from Central Library in Manassas on Jan. 7, sparking a massive search for the girl.
Her body was found in a shallow creek near the McCoart Administration building in Woodbridge two days later.
Prosecutors allege that Gregg-Glover placed the girl in the creek while she was still alive and before she reported her missing.
According to a medical examiner’s report, Lexie died of drowning and exposure to the cold.
Gregg-Glover is due back in court on May 8, when a judge will review the results of her mental health evaluations.
She is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail.

I suppose like the kid that killed the lady he abducted ( he was chanting Im a good kid ) she was chanting Im a good mommy ? I sometimes wonder who our legal system protects the criminals or the innocent victims ?
Check out Baskerville article from Thursday. See how this kid is playing the system. One day he’s lucid and demanding, next appearance he’s babbling incoherently.
It appears that this judge adheres to the philosophy that anyone who would commit such a crime, especially a women or a teen, is insane. And as such, the defense attorneys put forth some lame diagnosis which seems to work for this judge and the prosecutor goes along. There are others…
Again, check out the Baskerville case Thursday. Same thing but she can’t even bring herself to send these “incompetents” to the correct level of security institution without being reminded by the state…
Also note the News and Messenger played up the babbling and left out an important part of the story that would have showed the contradictions. The paper also put in the report of this woman’s first court appearance a commentary by a reporter that played up her “eeriness.” This paper is going along with and doing what they can to support the philosophy.
News and Messenger can’t be trusted. That’s why they are, like their kind, centralizing operations, going bankrupt, going to the web and definitely going out of town.
OMG…....WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON??? HOW DARE ANYONE THINK THAT THIS MONSTER WE CALL A MOTHER CAN BE INCOMPETENT? AND IF SHE IS FOUND INCOMPETENT, THE ADOPTION AGENCY, CPS OR WHOEVER PLACED THIS CHILD IN THIS HOME NEEDS TO BE HELD SOMEWHAT RESPONSIBLE. POOR LEXIE, SHE’S RESTING PEACEFULLY NOW!
Read the incompetence hearing of Baskerville and you’ll find a common thread running through the Virginia Judicial System fostered by our Commonwealth Attorney’s failure to fight such common contentions by the defense. Unless he gets some press of course.
It will only be a matter of time before Pinckney tries the same…
This lady isn’t as stupid as she seems to be. I believe anybody can play dumb to get what they want. She wasn’t to dumb to take the bracelet off that little girls arm and then report her missing. What in the world is this judge thinking. She didn’t give that girl a chance so, I believe the system should not hear her out and just sentence her. I don’t have the patience for things like this. If you have the guts to kill or hurt a child, don’t give the person a chance GET EM and HANG EM. I know people make mistakes and are not perfect but come on this child or any child does not deserve nothing like this. She better hope the woman in jail gives her a chance.
I agree Scott. This women made up a story and had the whole area looking for Lexie. Why, this poor child may have still been alive while Gregg-Glover was spinning this tale. This is Gregg-Glover’s only defence. She needs to go to prison where she can not hurt any other innocent and where she can get everything she justly deserves.
I’ve read prisoners hate child abusers and child killers. I can only hope that is true…
Might be incompetent to stand trial?? This woman held a job and ran a house! How can she be incompetent?? If this woman is found incompetent to stand trial and gets off on an insanity defense, we the People need to remove the justice system and build it all over again from scratch. Any judge that finds her incompetent to stand trial needs to be removed immediately because He/She are incompetent to sit on a bench in the State of Virginia.
