Police have charged a man with robbing a bank outside Manassas on Friday, and his girlfriend with driving the stolen getaway car.

Detectives arrested Mark Edward Wilson, 31, of 8805 Portner Lane in Manassas and Melissa Sue Martin, 29, of 8247 Humphrey Lane in Manassas, at a hotel early Saturday, Prince William County police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez said.

Wilson is also charged with stealing a pickup from a former employer, Hernandez said.

Police say Martin drove that truck as Wilson attempted to rob a Dairy Queen employee at knifepoint off Sudley Road, and then hit the Virginia Commerce Bank on Balls Ford Road a short time later.

The robber walked into the bank about 2:25 p.m., handing a teller a note indicating he had a weapon and demanding cash. The teller complied and the robber fled.

Police say they identified Wilson as a suspect and tracked him down to a Manassas hotel early Saturday. He and Martin are both charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, Hernandez said.

Police are still trying to find another local bank robber who struck Friday afternoon in North Stafford—after hitting three times in Woodbridge and Dale City.

That robbery, at a Wachovia on Garrisonville Road, marked the fourth since late November involving an older white man who hands tellers a note demanding cash.

Police say Wilson is not a suspect in those robberies. He and Martin are being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail pending a Feb. 3court date.

I realize this was a so called shock to a lot of people, but to the ones that new them. WE ALL NEW IT WAS COMING! Once them two get together they are like the “Bonnie and Clyde” of Manassas. A lot of things could have been done on our part, but in reality they are both grown people and can make there own decisions. There was nothing anyone could have done to stop these two. It is tragic, and sad to see this happen to them, but they did it to themselves, thank god there children have good daddies, and a good mommy who can pick up the pieces like they always do, because god knows when they will get out, if ever this time!

Looking at the paper this morning I couldn’t believe my eyes how terrible Melissa looked. You could still see the high in her eyes. And looking at the smirk on his face as if he was proud of robbing a bank. The news wasn’t really a big shocker to me as I new it would come to jail or death as bad as she had gotten. How could you not see this drug problem? How could so many people help then by giving money and transportation to feed there habit? Why didn’t someone have her admitted? Why would so many let Melissa and Bim be together in there homes after how many black eyes he gave her over drugs and lies? So many people could have ended this before it started!!!!!

Lets see how Melissa gets out of this one as the list goes on and on from charges over the last 2 years that she walked away from.I’m sure she will try to put everything on Bim that’s how she likes to play the game with all her guy friends. Its never her fault its always someone else’s in her eyes. She is really good at making up stories in her head so Im sure she is thinking of something as we speak…. and so many people believe those stories until they finally come to see the light which usually comes to late like this robbery. I can honestly see her being the master mind behind this and Bim loving her so much doing whatever she wanted was blinded by her love.

I agree that our probation system needs to be looked into as she also used while on probation and it was federal probation at that. How many DUI’s, driving with no license and drug charges can one person get before they serve time?!!!! I don’t believe anyone got Bim strung as he is a grown man who can make decisions on his own but peer pressure was a big play on both parts Im sure. Drugs are nothing to play around with.

I feel sorry for all the kids that are now going to go even longer with out seeing mommy or daddy. How do you explain this to a child that daddy robbed a bank or mommy helped her abusive boyfriend rob a bank and drove the getaway truck? Its just not fair to the children involved. Its a sad ending but id rather see jail then to see anyone die of a drug overdose.

Sweet, I see PWC Police is hard at work doing a great job catching criminals.  I just hope they would be nice enought to give warnings intead of tickets every once in a while.

WOW Bim, you have made your daughter proud, on the front page of the paper!!  Not for any good of course.  This is why you will NEVER see your daughter EVER.  You are a heroin junkie and your trashy so called girlfriend that got you strung.  I guess 6 years of prison did nothing for you, huh?  Well hopefully they will dispose of your sorry self this time for good. Just couldnt keep yourself clean and do right for the sake of your daughter.  Hope those detox nights treat you real well!  Hope they look into your probation officers covering for you too, he was called twice to stop you and never did anything.  Good riddance for the last time! smile

See this is a perfect example as to what drugs can do to someone!

I would have to agree with you.

Is this the new Bonnie and Clyde of Manassas?

Closer to “Dumb and Dumber”

No strangers to law enforcement here. Google Virginia Court Case Info for more. Maybe after they are convicted, they might learn some life skills to better society and take care of themselves. Those aren’t acne scars.
