A 32-year-old man pleaded guilty in Prince William Circuit Court on Monday to raping a 10-year-old girl.

Jose Abel Zelaya-Ascencio, of no fixed address, was charged with raping the girl at her family’s home in the 7500 block of Alleghany Court on Oct. 22, 2007.

According to court testimony Monday, the girl was awakened at 5:35 a.m. that morning when Zelaya-Ascencio broke into the house and went into her bedroom.

The girl, who was home alone with her 7-year-old brother, said she tried to get away, but Zelaya-Ascencio overpowered her and raped her, police said.

The girl told police that her attacker wore a bandanna over his face, but she suspected it was Zelaya-Ascencio, who had rented a room at her house prior to the incident.

Zelaya-Ascencio denied being at the house that morning and being involved in the rape, but DNA evidence linked him to the crime scene, police said at the time.

Prosecutors are recommending that Zelaya-Ascencio be sentenced to 20 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, and 10 years of probation.

His sentencing hearing is set for March 6.

Zelaya-Ascencio is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador and could face deportation, officials said.

Look, let’s not get our panties in a bunch. You may see it as racism, I see it as expressing my opinion. We do still have that right, don’t we?
I knew you’d see it my way Prudenciow, and you are correct. The Hispanics should just change their ways, along with whites, blacks and all of the others I listed in a previous post. You people need to get over your feelings or we are doomed as a nation. Stop worrying about who we offend, it’s really becoming sickening. It’s getting as bad as the right pushing their religion on us.

The saddest part of the story is that the girl’s parents introduced the rapist to their daughter with they rented out a room to him.  I also suspect it was probably clear from the start that he is an illegal alien.  Could the parents be charged for aiding and enabling their daughter’s rapist?  How about perversion of justice in harboring a known criminal?

Northside, I agree with you, why would somebody think that you are addressing the entire Hispanic community just because you addressed it, since you know about that little piece of paper for free speech that grants you the right to offend and point fingers because of the few bad seeds.  If Hispanics would just change their ways, Right Northside????

Racism…. yes, the last line of defense for the indefensible.  Congratulations, you have managed to make it to this without stating any supporting facts from this case.  Lame.

Prudencow, I wasn’t addressing the entire Hispanic community, just a couple of bad seeds that have been in the news in the past two weeks for RAPING a FOUR YEAR OLD and TEN YEAR OLD!I really don’t care what nationality the suspects are, what I do care about is there are two young girls who will more than likely be scarred for life mentally because of the actions of these pigs.
And I really couldn’t care less who I offend, I seem to remember a little piece of paper that grants me the right to free speech.
JohnLloyd Scharf, you have no evidence, so you in fact are ASSuming the interrogation to be forced.
For the record, I would be saying the same things if the suspects were white, black, brown, yellow blue, or even purple. Anyone that forces themselves sexually on another person, especially a child is scum.

It is a scary thing to think that racism could be responsible for incarcerating the innocent at the cost of the taxpayers and letting a preditor continue to roam at will.

If we convince ourselves that most child rapists are Hispanic, then I fear we put our children at great danger from the rest of the pervert population who aren’t Hispanic.

This sick deviancy runs through all ethicities, I am sorry to say.

IF you knew how many loci were found in this, you would not be refering to a “ratio.“ If you are refering to the statistical claims for DNA, then you obviously have not done the research that shows, as I stated, matches between individuals in various jurisdications which were 13 out of 13.

Regarding a confession, read the article. The man plead guilty. That is a confession and more. You have to admit guilt (confess) in court to a judge during a plea hearing.

Otherwise, you are just playing with words and I will not join you in that regarding pontification and confession. I did not assume I knew their meaning.

I have made no innuendos here. I have presented documented facts and invited others to research them.

I never said anyone was the Pope, look up the definition.  Second, you didn’t answer the question.  Do you have any specific information on this case or are you just pontificating?  You speak of extracted confessions but I don’t even read were there was a confession.  Antictdotal stories from other states really doesn’t make much of an impression if you don’t relate it to this story.  Do you know what other evidence was in this case, do you know what the DNA ratio was in this match?  I do, so I know you don’t have any idea what you are talking about.

UNLESS THERE IS VIDEO TAPING OF THE INTERROGATION, I have to assume the “confession” was extracted from the defendent. There was no indication that they bullied confessions from the six that have been released in Nebraska. IT HAPPENED.
