Police believe that 13-year-old Alexis Glover had a medical emergency in the early morning hours of Jan. 7, and her mother did not get her medical attention, according to court documents read in Prince William Circuit Court Thursday.
Instead, police say Alfreedia Gregg-Glover, 44, dumped her adopted daughter—who was possibly still alive—in a freezing creek and then made up a story about the girl running away. Two days later, a man walking his dog near the McCoart Administration Building found the teen’s body.
Gregg-Glover is charged with child neglect and filing a false police report in connection with Alexis’ death.
On Monday, Glover was released from jail Monday after a judge in Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court granted her a $5,000 bond on the child neglect charge. A judge in Prince William General District Court previously granted her a $5,000 bond on the misdemeanor charge.
Prosecutors appealed the bond decision, arguing Gregg-Glover should remain in jail.
At a Thursday morning hearing, Prince William Circuit Court Judge Mary Grace O’Brien ruled that Gregg-Glover could remain out on bond.
O’Brien said she would not reverse the lower court’s decision to grant bond on the child neglect charge.
Gregg-Glover is not considered a flight risk and has met all of her pre-trial conditions so far, O’Brien said. She is currently on pre-trial supervision in Chesapeake County, where she is living.
O’Brien said she could only make the decision based on the child neglect charge, not on other charges that may be brought in the future.
Defense attorney Barry Zweig said his client willingly appeared in court Thursday, with no official notification from the court, only a phone call from him.
According to a criminal complaint read in court Thursday, police believe that Alexis had an unspecified medical emergency around 7 a.m. on Jan. 7 and Gregg-Glover did not get her proper medical attention.
Gregg-Glover reported her daughter missing on Jan. 7, saying that the girl had run away from her at Central Library in Manassas.
A massive search effort, including more than 300 law enforcement officers and volunteers, ensued to look for Alexis, who her mother said suffered from severe autism and sickle cell anemia.
Police said that Gregg-Glover dumped her daughter’s body in a creek in Woodbridge, where she was found two days after she was first reported missing.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Claiborne Richardson said prosecutors may bring more charges against Gregg-Glover next month.
A medical examiner’s report shows that Alexis’ lungs had some water in them when she died, Richardson said.
As a condition of her bond, Gregg-Glover is currently living in Virginia Beach with her brother, defense attorney Barry Zweig said. She has been ordered to have no contact with children, including her 11-year-old daughter.

“police say Alfreedia Gregg-Glover, 44, dumped her adopted daughter—who was possibly still alive—in a freezing creek and then made up a story about the girl running away.“
This is not “child neglect” this is MURDER, the poor kid was still alive and she was “DUMPED” thrown out like the trash. Please GOD let them call me for jury duty on this one.
Today I drove down the road where Alexis’ body was found and saw the memorial at the creek. It’s cold today, and was much colder that morning, and it made me sick to my stomach to think that little girl was possibly still alive. Murder—there’s nothing else to call it. Normal people call 911 when there’s a medical emergency. This woman faked Alexis’ disappearance and death. I pray her other daughter will be safe too.
Off with her head!
This lady Is a COLD BLOODED MURDERER b/c she dumped her adopted daughter’s body..who by the way “was possibly still alive” (having water in her lungs)in a freezing creek and LEFT HER THERE and that makes her GUILTY of MURDER..but she has yet to be charged with MURDER so the judge had to set bail only for the child neglect and a false police report charge, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT THEY CAN’T GET A MURDER CHARGE AGAINST THIS HEARTLESS PERSON??. Dave Perry it has NOTHING to do with the jail being over crowded (you should know this) hopefully prosecutors will bring more charges against her SICK A$$ soon. Such a senseless tragedy that did not have to occur. I wouldn’t be surprised if she gave her an overdose of medicine b/c she definitely has that type of mentally…She is a COLD BLOODED MURDER and I hope that she rots in H3LL!! Paul Ebert needs to get that Murder Conviction as soon as possible before IT decides to VANISH. Let’s ALL send supporting letters to the Prosecutor on Alexis behalf…at least that would be a start!! TO EVERYONE ON THIS PAGE..THIS IS HAPPENING FAR TO OFTEN…WE ARE TRULY LIVING IN A SICK AND DANGEROUS WORLD.. BE CAREFUL AND PLEASE HELP OTHERS!!
Let’s ALL focus on celebrating the life of this little girl and remembering her .
Alexis “Rest in Peace” we all love you..
I just wonder if this lady is going to be charged for the murder of this child. She killed her by leaving an innocent child out in a freezing cold weather.
The paper copy in my driveway this morning has has a different headline than the online version: “Girl’s mom is released on bond.“
A bit disingenuous to call this woman a “mom,“ isn’t it, Ms. Stewart? That colloquialism is generally reserved for someone who loves and cares for her children.
Kristin,
I hear the frustration in your comment because of the repeated attempts to report child neglect. Please don’t give up. It takes individuals like yourself to protect all children when our government fails them.
Keep documenting who you have been talking to and tell as many people as possible.
You are doing the right thing and as frustrating as it is, your conscience will be clear.
mikelauston, I don’t see what this has to do with an officer accidentaly shooting someone. There is no connection or similarity. The officer that you refer to got lazy so to speak with his trigger finger and this unfortunate incident occured. He didn’t shoot the guy on purpose. There was no motive or reason for him to. The shooting victim had no altercations with the police. He wasn’t resisting arrest or anything like that.
I’m not sure why everyone is so outraged about this woman being freed on bail. In Fairfax County the police are free to shoot anyone they want point blank without consequence-

Welcome to Prince William County the most liberal county in the state. $5000 bond for killing a child! Not bad! Does anyone go to jail anymore?? And you wonder why our streets are flooded with thugs committing crime with no consequence…Travel few miles south, and it’s completely different in our neighboring Stafford County. Stafford still have respect in it’s judicial system and punishment when people break it’s laws. They still throw people in jail! We need to go back to that in PWC or else, chaos is imminent and our social order is in jeapordy…This case is a classic example of our joke of a justice system!
