Del. Paul F. Nichols was in Occoquan on Monday to talk about small business issues, but he also addressed a controversial campaign mailer his opponent sent out Friday.
Republican Rich Anderson, who’s running against Nichols in the House of Delegates’ 51st District, announced his opponent’s arrest in North Carolina in 2006 in the direct-mail piece.
Nichols was charged with assaulting a police officer while on a golf trip. But he has said he was wrongly accused, and the charges were dismissed.
To respond to the mailer, his campaign placed a recorded “robo” telephone call to district voters Sunday.
It featured former Washington Redskin Curtis Jordan, who was on the 2006 trip to the Outer Banks with Nichols.
“Rich Anderson is lying about what happened instead of focusing on issues that matter, like transportation and getting our economy moving again,” Jordan said in the call.
Besides spreading misleading information, Nichols said, Anderson’s mailer, which contained an image of his arrest record, released his personal information, including his Social Security number.
“He might as well have just pulled down my pants in public,” Nichols said, adding that he’s considering legal action on the matter.
But Anderson campaign manager Reece Collins said Nichols’ story is just “hearsay,” which wouldn’t stand up in court. The Anderson campaign wants to see documentation.
“If he has a version of the story,” Collins said, “we ask him to produce something.”

Here’s the Question I would ask:
If you are running for public office and you know that your opponent will look for muck, why are you hiding this and what else are you hiding?
The common response by Delegate Nichols and Creigh Deeds recently has been that their opponents are ‘lying.“ When you can’t defend the indefensible, you have to resort to calling your opponents a “liar”
Delegate Nichols, “LIAR, n. A lawyer with a roving commission.“

For the sake of common decency Mr. Nichols, “Please keep your pants up!“ Keep the dropping of drawers to the “ Political Boys Club” members of the Va.General Assembly.
An arrest is an arrest quit beating around the bush, same thing was done to Pres. Bush.
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. Sort of like watching a train wreck.
I would prefer to see productive things happen…not another lawyer’s wallet get fatter.
Curious Phdee,
How did you feel when democrats released Sarah Palin’s SS#?
Bother you much?
It appears Anderson has got his genitals in the washing machine wringer. Usually, when you climb up there, it is only a matter of time before someone wrings them off.
Not blacking out SS# is serious. Anderson is too dumb to know better. Now, if Nichols pursues legal action, Anderson won’t be able to hide behind his uniform or quickly get sent by the military to a secret hiding place. It’s like facing death: you are alone, no one can help the situation. Quite frankly, I’d like to see Nichols take legal action.
A potential lawsuit?
When will they understand that they set themselves up for this type of bs the day they decide to become politicians?
Goofballs, all of them.
