In his final campaign appearance before Tuesday’s election, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is planning a rally Monday night in Manassas Park.
It will be Obama’s 11th trip to the commonwealth since the end of the primary campaign. He began the general election campaign season with Virginia stops in Bristol and Manassas.
The campaign has not released the time and place where Obama will appear.
City officials have not been officially contacted by the Obama camp, but are considering using Signal Hill Park or Manassas Park High School as a rally location if they are, City Manager Mercury T. Payton said.
Campaign officials say Obama will talk about the economy, affordable health care and tax relief for middle class families at the rally.

I would not be in a panic, but I heard on video Obama saying he wanted a “nationalized” police force. You know, it’s too Chavez-like. There should be a microphone up close asking him to explain such an inflammatory statement.

This election is so close, and nearly over. Yet after 20 months of campaigning, I still can’t figure Senator Obama out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4PF_QMBvMs
Nissan Pavilion is not in the middle of a small neighborhood, Signal Hill Park is. And the Fair, held in a different park, does not attract the same size of crowd as this rally will—the Fair is an event which lasts for several days so crowds are spread out over a week or more, not everyone converging at one time. Signal Hill Park is on a little back street, not on a major thoroughfare, and even the fireworks display on July 4th—which occurs on a major holiday (low traffic day)—literally closes Signal View drive and ties up every side road anywhere near it. People come around and park on the side streets and block driveways. This rally would attract way more people. And as for holding the rally at a school, the Republicans had to move a rally from the grounds of Fairfax High School because it was a school day and it was felt having such an event there could endanger the students. Well, Monday is a school day for the students of Manassas Park—so is Obama and the local Democratic charter saying the Manassas Park students are less worthy of safety than Fairfax County’s students? Endangering students or tying up traffic in a neighborhood where tax dollars spent on road construction don’t begin to match those spent in wealthy Fairfax or even wealthier Loudoun County. Does either sound like a good idea or well thought out plan? Either move will not win over undecided voters. The Obama supporters who can attend, will, and those particular individuals may not mind this, but to the undecided and to the McCain supporters this will show a lack of respect for the community. So what is the point? Preaching to the already won over voters and annoying all the others. Again, what is the point?
I wonder how the Prince William Fair does it? I wonder how Nissan Pavillion does it.
Don’t prove Manassas is totally provincial.
THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SPACE IN THIS AREA FOR ANY RALLY. THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO ROUTE 28, TRAFFIC IS ALREADY A MESS AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS TOO SMALL TO ACCOMODATE THE CROWDS. I GUESS DNC DOESN’T CARE ABOUT MANASSAS PARK, MANASSAS CITY OR THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS.
IRRESPONSIBILTY IS STARTING ALREADY.
The final plans haven’t been announced. Apparently the campaign isn’t but so stupid. They are about get the first democrat elected since 1964 from Virginia.

How stupidly clueless can a campaign get? A large rally in Manassas Park that will possibly tie up already horrendous traffic on Rte 28 on a Monday evening? How much fuel will we have to burn thanks to the Great One? Good thing climate change miraculously went away with this campaign.
Question is will Chris Mathews be there to H#&P;his [the one’s] leg ..........
