… Denyse Carroll with the Micron Foundation, who was named the Gold Star Winner for the month of December by the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce.

She organized the education committee’s fall school supply drive, which donated more than 150 backpacks loaded with school supplies to SERVE Inc. for distribution to needy school children.

Under her leadership, the committee’s National Young Readers Day program doubled the number of schools served this year from 12 to 24, recruiting more than 300 “celebrity” readers from the chamber and the community to read to schoolchildren.

Also under her watch, the scholarship committee is buy raising funds so that it will be able to offer three more scholarships to graduating seniors next year, for a total of 12 $1,000 scholarships.

Samuel Ankrah has joined Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Manassas as a sales associate.

Ankrah said he joined the firm because of the excellent sales associate training programs and top-of-the-line technology that enables him to provide a full range of quality service.

“I go out of my way to help customers achieve their dreams,” said Ankrah, who has two decades of customer service experience. Originally from Ghana, Ankrah has lived in Burke for the past five years.

John Matusik with The Engineering Groupe Inc. of Woodbridge recently received certification as a LEED AP, qualifying him as a professional in green buildings codes. He serves as the vice president and director of water resources engineering for the company.

In addition, Matusik is an adjunct professor of civil, environmental and infrastructure engineering at George Mason University in Fairfax.
