We were on I-66 at the PWC/Fairfax Co border heading east when we saw a car go flying by in the far left lane.  No sooner had we commented on it when two PW Co police cars with sirens blaring also blasted by.  We did see a Fairfax Sheriff’s car do a U-turn to also follow the other three cars, but it was clear he wasn’t moving nearly as fast.  We got off 66 at 29, well after they were long out of sight.  I’d like to know why he was being chased, even if they never caught up with him.

Is there an update to this story?  I was on Wellington crossing Godwin when all the police cars (seems like 2 dozen of them) came past me towards Nokesville Rd./28.  By the time I got to Wellington and Prince William Parkway, there were police heading down PWP towards 66.  The last time I saw this much police activity was on 66 in response to the school shooting in Fairfax County.  Therefore I was quite worried about what was going on this time.  I’ve been checking the news for information, but this blurb is all I could find, with no updates since.  Was it a false alarm or something?

I just saw the story on Fredericksburg.com,he was suspected of stealing flowers.52 year old man from FBG.,no gun in the car,but officers wouldn’t know that.I read he was driving in excess of 120 MPH and the article said he had a bypass earlier this year.It also said he had a bipolar disorder at times through his life and they are investigating.I wonder if he was on bipolar and heart medicine, made him freak out.Well, this is sad,all the way around, sad for the man and the three officers.People get scared and they run,it’s dangerous, officers don’t know if you’re armed and driving fast gets people killed. So sad for all families concerned,I’m sorry.
