Prince William virtual high school can lead to real degree

Registration will soon begin for the spring session of the Virtual High School @ PWCS, the online high school program offered by Prince William County Public Schools.

The program will offer 18 full-credit high school courses for the spring session, which runs from Feb. 4 to June 1.

Online registration will be available at pwcs.edu/pwcsvirtualhs between Jan. 12 and 31.

The following courses are offered through the online program: English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12,  World Geography, World History from 1500, U.S./Virginia History, U.S. Virginia Government, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Astronomy, Biology I,Chemistry, Earth Science, Spanish III, Health, Physical Education and Class-room Driver Education.

Students should expect to spend between seven and eight hours a week on work for online courses, school officials said.

All students must take an online orientation between Jan. 30 and Feb. 4 and pass all tests in the orientation program before they can take the courses.

The spring session begins with an in-person course orientation at Battlefield High School on Feb. 4, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Tuition for Prince William County students in $425 per course. For non-Prince William County students, tuition is $570 per course.
