The construction of the lengthened I-95 north High Occupancy Vehicle lanes exit ramp lane to the northbound general purposes lanes, just south of Exit 166, Fairfax County Parkway/Newington is expected to be opened after paving work is completed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Paving at the new HOV exit ramp is scheduled to begin late Friday night, April 3. All work is weather permit-ting:

I-95 HOV Lane Closure—Friday Night, April 3

When: 11 p.m. Fri., April 3, to 10 a.m. Sat., April 4

What: Left lane closed (I-95 reversible lanes open southbound)

Where: I-95 HOV lanes from Franconia-Springfield Parkway (7900) to one half mile south of Fairfax County Park-way (7100)

Why: Milling and paving

Police: Onsite for motorist safety

I-95 HOV Lane Closure —Saturday, April 4

When: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4

What: HOV lanes closed

Where: I-95 HOV lanes from Dumfries to Springfield. HOV lanes north of Springfield to Washington are open northbound.

Why: Milling and paving

Police: Onsite for motorist safety

This work is part of a small I-95 HOV exit ramp project that will provide additional space to allow vehicles to ac-cess the general purpose lanes in the Newington area.

The agency said this is expected to keep traffic moving smoothly in the two HOV lanes during morning rush hours. This project is not associated with the proposed I-95/395 HOV/Bus/ HOT Lanes project or the I-95 Widening pro-ject.
