Sniper attorney: Appeals exhausted

Jonathan Sheldon, attorney for condemned sniper John Allen Muhammad, said he has exhausted all appeals and won’t work further to spare his life.

“The United States Supreme Court and the Governor of Virginia have denied John Muhammad’s request for a stay of execution and review of his case,“ Sheldon wrote in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “We respect their decisions and will make no more legal efforts to stop this process from going forward.“

Muhammad spent Tuesday afternoon meeting with immediate family members, according to state Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor.

“He does not have a spiritual adviser.  Muhammad’s attorneys are planning to meet with him later this afternoon,“ Traylor stated in a press release.

Earlier Tuesday, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine cleared the way for the Muhammad’s execution, set for 9 p.m. tonight.

Muhammad is scheduled to die by lethal injection Tuesday night at a Virginia prison for killing Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree that left 10 people dead in 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Muhammad and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, were also suspected of fatal shootings in other states including Louisiana, Alabama and Arizona. Malvo is serving a life sentence.

Sheldon says Virginia will be executing a severely mentally ill man.

Here’s a thought “judgenot”, when a member of your family suffers because of a ruthless killer, spend your time forgiving and preaching and show up at the court and request no death penalty imposed.  As for cases that don’t personally effect your family, stop trying to get others to forgive.  We don’t need to be preached to.  I will not pray for that POS. Let God forgive him if he even makes it that far.

Who are we to judge?  We have no clue as to what may or not have gone through his mind at the time of the shootings.  We all have just one judge, God. He is a forgiving God and when Mr. Muhammad goes to Him tonight, then that is when his true judgement will come.  Pray for him, people.  Not just for the victims, but pray for Mr. Muhammad as well.  Blessings to all.

Hey Mr Sniper… Your day has come. You may be crazy now, after being in prison, but back then you were just a cold and calculated killer. You terrified the region. I remember being out an EXXON gas station and in a 7-11 when a white van with two persons pulled in.  I was was scared to death and panic attacked.  My son and his friends were at Kings Dominion for some Halloween fun , where I had first pondered his safety and then thought…  yeah sure,...  its’a away from here.. then bang!!  you went on your killing spree in Asland, VA   and caused the park to LOCK DOWN.  I was worried sick you would cause harm to the kids at the thrill park.  I was worried sick until my son was allowed to leave that park and get home at 3 am in the morning because of road blocks and checks!  That is what you caused me to feel. I can not imagine the horrors of those families whose loved ones you shot and killed. You deserve to pay for your horrendous crimes. May God forgive your poor soul.

All I can say is if Alfreedia Leona Gregg-Glover is getting consideration for being mentally ill, then John Muhummad should also. What constitutes being mentally ill anyways???

I don’t feel this man was “mentally ill” coo coo for coco puffs - YES, 4 chicken nuggets short of a happy meal -YES but mentally ill - NOT EVEN CLOSE. John Muhammad was the DEVIL and Lee Boyd Malvo was the Devil’s helper. Both men should be executed by the hands of the family members that lost a love one to these two idiots. And the person that should get first dibs is the young man that survived this ordeal. After they finish having their way with him if he survives put him in the hole until he heals with no medical attention, if not oh well.

Too bad it isn’t by firing squad with the same rifle that was used when he was terrorizing the area.

Back in the old days they would have 6 persons with rifles only one fired the fatal shot but no one knew who fired it so it would not distrub the person who did fire the fatal shot.
