WICOMICO CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A 6-year-old Virginia boy determined to get to school took his family’s car after he missed the bus.
Virginia State Police say the Wicomico Church boy wrecked the vehicle but he suffered only minor injuries and made it to class at Northumberland Elementary School.
The accident occurred around 7:40 a.m. Monday on Route 360.
State police said the boy, who wasn’t identified, took the keys to his family’s 2005 Ford Taurus after he missed the school bus and drove toward the school. The child’s mother was asleep at the time.
The boy lost control of the car and ran off the road several times before the vehicle hit an embankment and a utility pole.
State police said the child wasn’t wearing a safety belt.
The incident remains under investigation.

She was human obviously and overslept. She shouldn’t have left the keys in plain sight though. LOL Chris Cummings
That kid really likes school. But yeah. mom remember the car keys are not to be left on plain view, and I agree with the previous comment it’s so true.
What kind of a mother doesn’t get up and put a six year old on the school bus? And, we wonder what’s wrong with our kids! Be a parent! Come on people there’s way too much of this crap going on all over!
